Talked to my brother last night about Tre. He had Ike 2 or 3 times this year. He said he's quick and handles the ball well. Shot is streaky, but looks good. Decision making will need to improve. Definitely an athlete. He didn't seem quite as impressed with Tre as he did Ron Baker, but he said they're different players so it was hard to compare the two.
This guy I know seen him play. Described him as a good shot off the dribble with D-1 potential. On a catch and shoot basis, he described him as more streaky. Obviously this player can score and warrants a birds-eye view as his High-School days on the hardwood continue. I really want to see him play for myself and hope to do so. The highlights above were cool, very cool.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.
Is this kid D-1 scholarship material? I think so, but I am not a D-1 coach. Or would he be more of the preferred walk-on type with the chance at earning a scholarship? I like the HCGM has shown interest in several of the local kids. I know he didn't get a couple of the upper level ones, but he still has tried. I don't remember MT doing that and Smithson had a few, but they weren't the caliber that WSU has now, not that I didn't enjoy seeing all of them and I did appreciate them playing here instead of going elsewhere.
2014 is a long ways away. That being said, we will have, according to my accounting, at least 4 openings in 2014. I'd like to see at least one big, we are one over so going with speculation, we will have either one less in 2014 or one less in 2015.
I want to see them go after Omega and Shake Milton for guards, but at this point, you can't rule anyone out. I say go after the kid and offer them a greyshirt at least and a full schollie at most. We can see what shakes out in a few months.
He will not be a preferred walk on at the D-1 level IMO ... he'll be playin D-1 somewhere.
And i'll add that if you have not seen him play ... he does have hops. For a PG/SG not in the GWAL ... he can powerdunk, catch the oop and finish 1 or 2 handed, and adjust n make plays in the air. Pretty impressive athletically .. really gets up there.
Side note: Mr. Bush from Ike can also fly ... in case any of ya'll have seen him in pregame
On a somewhat related note (Goddard). I noticed last night Marshall mentioned Zach Bush and several times over the year I have heard him say he has a real chance in the future to earn a scholarship.
"@D1Circuit: Athletes First (@AthletesFirst1) SG Trevon Evans (@TrevonEvans25) holds interest from Northern Colorado, Oral Roberts, Pepperdine & UTPA"
Both D1 Circuit and Trevon's Be Recruited page now lists him in the class of 2015. Looks like he reclassified and IMO will definitely be a Shocker target.
