And unfortunately, Mantas may be done. It'll be interesting to hear how bad it is.

Bowman had 25 pts and 8 boards last night for Hutch.

As a sidenote, Bobby Maze, sporting a "frogirri", set a HCC single game record with 16 assists.

My take on it: (especially with the interest in Gary Flowers too)

        1) Coaching staff recognizes need for a 6'9" Power forward, that can score, and also rebound and block shots.
        2) Most High School power forwards are only 6'5"-6'7" their senior year, and the good ones a little taller are snatched up by the big schools.
        3) 6'5"-6'7" power forwards in D-1 are on the short side, so Coaching staff is looking at good Juco Power Forwards already grown, experienced, that can play right away, fill the gap, and give us 2 more years to find a replacement out of High School.
        4) He needs the power forward to complement our 5's, Orukpe and Stutz.

Bowman has been to WSU on an unofficial and was impressed with coach Marshall. Maryland and K-State appear to be the leaders however.

According to this headline, he committed to Maryland in January.

I found a couple articles saying he committed. This one from Hutch specifically calls out the Scout article you referenced:

It says he still wanted to visit Kansas State and had not committed to Maryland yet.

Before Bowman, Maryland had 3 commits for 3 openings. If you add Bowman, they are one over. They do show him as having verballed to them. As we all know from last year, a verbal is not a commitment. They also needed one big man and have one commited. They could also over recruit for some reason.

Van Coleman is saying he is close to commiting to Maryland but has decided to visit K-State after his season. At this point IMO Maryland doesn't have it locked up but is the heavy favorite. K-State has a shot depending on how the visit goes. Coach Marshall probably knows if there is any chance at all, and if so will probably keep after it with both fingers crossed.

So they want the kid, but don't have a scholarship?

Guess what Mr. Bowman. WSU has a spot for you now.
