Arizona State counters by offering Coy the opportunity to play baseball at ASU if he honors his basketball scholarship and rejects the Phillies contract offer.

The Phillies countered by increasing their initial offer and allowing him to play basketball at Arizona State first. So it is certain Coy will play basketball at Arizona State this fall.

He is leaving Arizona State due to his father's health. He should be eligible for a hardship transfer which would allow him to play Division 1 at another school next year. He was red-shirting this year so will have 4 years of eligibility left. He wants to play Div 1 basketball and baseball within 3 hours of home. Drake has already contacted him. Creighton fans had high hopes of getting him but they lost out to the Sun Devils.

This could be a war between the Shockers and BlueJays.

This would be a kid that would be a very nice pick up for the Shox both in Koch and at Eck.

I'm also glad the NCAA has this exception for transfers when it relates to family health. The NCAA screws up a lot of things but forcing a kid to have to sit out to be closer to ailing loved ones would be horrible.

Wow this is turning into a dream. To me it seems like it's between probably WSU and Creighton with an outside chance at Mizzou, Drake, or UMKC. Though Drake and UMKC don't have baseball programs.

The only thing that seems might turn him off on WSU is the fact he was recruited by Turg and probably doesn't know Marshall.

True, but I'm sure he's quite familiar with Gene Gene The Dancin' Machine. :D

I just made a post about Johnny on the blog. Just my take on things. I would be surprised if he doesn't chose to go to WSU or Creighton.

I thought I read on the BJCafe' that they had 3 available for next year?

Thanks shocks02 for that very interesting and intriguing article. This young man just happens to play the position we are looking for and playing time could be earned.

WstateU--now that was a funny gig. Last time FSF was busting and flaunting dance moves like that, my back went out, my asthma flared up, and the bouncers asked me to leave like a tree. So I started to tell them that I had only lost one fight, but they did not want to hear it and they were not worried. Imagine that? :D
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

I'm pretty sure the Bluejays only have one left and most fans think they need a big man, not a SF.

Not that Jet915 on BJ Cafe' knows for sure, but this is where I read it.:

how many scholies do we have for next year, I thought only 3.....if that is the case, I'd rather search for a BIG than Coy but I wouldn't mind him either."

I think he's just saying that they have just 3 schollies total with 2 players signed already.
