I care that despite us being stuck in a non-BCS conference, that Marshall is attempting to live up to "high major" (or whatever you call it) expectations from his players and the fans. Expectations are a self fulfilling prophecy--the best you think you can do is the most you will probably achieve.
So I guess if I believe hard enough that he will sign, then he will?

I think you are searching for something that isn't here. You keep trying to pin me down as a bad fan or whatever you point is simply because I don't agree with you on something.

If there is an ignore I plan to put you on it, I suggest you do the same with me, thanks.

I'm not going to get in the middle of the "sunshine pumper" vs. "debbie downer" debate, but I don't understand the idea that you are simultaneously arguing that there is no chance that we can land this kid and that you are glad Marshall is recruiting him. We live in a world of finite resources and to spend those resources (whether financial, time, energy, etc.) on a player that we have 0% chance of getting cannot be viewed as a wise investment. There can be debate about what the odds need to be to justify any given investment (for instance, if there is only a 1% chance of getting the kid, the potential reward might justify the use of resources, even if it is a long shot), but once you have determined that there is 0 chance of something happening, no investment makes sense.

As such, should I believe that you stand by your initial proclamations that we have no chance and that you don't support wasting resources on a hopeless venture, or should I believe that you were speaking in exaggerated terms previously and that the reason you support Marshall is that what you really believe is that signing this kid is unlikely, but not impossible, therefore worth the gamble of some resources. If it is the latter, then I doubt that any of us are in much disagreement.

I will give you that too. I'm starving for basketball :) that is all. Again, you are not wrong. I could have done without the insults from you and shoxmvc, but I did start it after all, so how can I complain. No hard feelings. I apologize.
I remember being over sensitive when I was new. Please re-read my comments (and by the way if you feel insulted by my comments, let me introduce you to a couple of insult legends on this board). By you being a Shocker fan automatically makes you special in my eyes (hopefully you don't see that comment as an insult...:-). We simply carry our passionate Shocker fan card in different pockets (which is totally ok). Let me be clear...I respect your opinion, but I sometimes have some fun with thinking methods I don't share. No disrespect intended. I personally look forward to reading your takes.

If we can't land a Micky-D's player in our own backyard, what makes you think we can get one from another neighborhood? When we show a reasonable history of making the dance & getting deep into the sheet music, then spend time, effort & energy with the top-50 types. Until that happens leverage relationships and get some more like FVV.

This is a lucid, concise statement. I can't see how anyone could disagree with this point of view. Oh wait this is Shocer Net...my bad.

I understand where you are coming from with your comments. I respect people's opinions as well and that's why I apologized. I don't actually disagree with either one of you about the points you make. You are spot on. My responses were towards the delivery, not the material. Being a realist is different from being an antagonist. A realist can still get hopeful now and then. There is just no need for the negative energy unless someone asks if we have a chance, wanting to know everyone's take. Then it would be welcome. Your comments about me being a Kool-aid drinker who believes the sun can rise in the west, followed by over-sensitive when "new" are all condescending, and then you say "but I respect you." It doesn't really feel that way as I read it. It may not be harshly insulting, but I felt the sentiment. I will say it again, I am sorry about my part. I really don't want to revive my part of all of this because I want things to be cordial again. I didn't do a very good job earlier and I'm recanting. I agree that stuff like this is a longshot. I agree that if we couldn't land one right here, it will be tough to land one who is not from Wichita. I agree that the program needs more success (which I would LOVE as a fan). I honestly completely agree with you guys. I don't agree that fans deserve to be shot down by realists when they support the same program unless they have asked for commentary on the current likelihood. We are trying to have fun with ideas about the future...not arguing that we can expect to get this guy.

I think it is completely unrealistic to see any way the Shockers get the 2015 number 1 prospect. However, I think after good things happen the next few years and if we can make an Elite 8 run or a couple sweet runs. Then there is no reason that after this kid falls from number one prospect to somewhere from 20-40 that we are absolutely in the running for this recruit.

Number 1 prospect - Not going to happen
This kid - We could have a very good realistic shot in a couple years.

I am on board with that. Especially that little elite 8 part. Wouldn't that be something :)

I'm still kind of amazed that kids that young are already having to deal with all that stuff. Pretty crazy

I'm pretty harmless & don't take me too serious too often...I do find your new takes genuinely refreshing. Keep up the good work!

Thanks man. I bet this kid would laugh if he saw what happened on his thread here. :) I still can't believe there is a ranking system already that can identify 14 year olds as number anything compared to each other. Is there really a rundown on that age group or is it more like he is just widely held as the best at that level and the rest haven't necessarily been ranked?

That's pretty much the point I was trying to make, but you did it a hell of a lot better than I did. Thanks rialaigh.

Didn't Indiana many moons ago get a verbal from an 8th grader named Damon Baily (I think that was his name)? I believe he kept his word and had a fine career with the Hoosiers. It is crazy to anoint an 8th grader as king of the basketball world in 4 years.

I took a look at four different 2015 rankings. Allonzo was ranked 20th in one of them and wasn't mentioned in the others.
