          Noam's box +/- wasn't very good in his final two games (1/4 final and consolation) in U18 FIBA Championships in 2022.

          But he got a cap with the Israeli _senior_ national team, which is ranked 34th in the world. That's kinda wow.

            I started off making fun of Kung but the more I see the more I am whelmed.

            Like I said earlier, his highlights are against underwhelming competition. Italy U18 was 6th, Israel was 8. His athleticism is lacking and he has slow feet. His passing is ok but against faster opponents, he will have higher TO. He can be shut down against better teams, and has a horrible +/-.
            Against France he went 0/5 from 2, 1/1 from 3, and 2/3 from the line with a +/- of -15.
            Against Poland he went 5/11 from 2, 1/5 from 3, and 3/7 from the line with a +/- of +2.
            Against Serbia he went 6/21, 5/15, 4/8, -13.

            in short, he looks overmatched in big games.

              Hahaha ...

              Feb 9, 2022, Gal Mekel played 23:33 minutes for the Israeli national team and scored 6 points against Finland, shooting .286 2PTS (yuck) and .286 3PTS (yuck), with 4 assists and box -2

              Feb 24, 2023, Noam Yaacov played 19:20 minutes for the Israeli national team (his debut) and scored 12 points shooting .333 2PTS (yuck) and .667 3PTS, with 2 assists and box +6

              Gal is ancient now at 35 so not a fair comparison by any stretch, but cool none-the-less.

                He wasn’t very good at all in the 22 U18.

                  Actually .. he is now playing for the Israeli national team and that's the highest level of competition he's played. He's only played two games but ...

                  In those two games his averages are ...

                  pts = 15 (yes, please)
                  2pts = .455
                  3pts = .600 (wow)
                  freethrow pct = 0.846 (yes, please)
                  assists = 4.5/gm (yes, please)
                  assist/to = 2.25 (heck yes, please!)
                  rebounds = 4/gm (for a pg? geddoudahere)

                  Basically when surrounded by top quality players, his numbers skyrocket.

                    After I saw what you posted I went and looked. Interestingly enough, it appears he made the team after Gal retired.

                    The teams he played against suck. Remember the hype around Asbjorn? Remember? He played against sucky teams too.

                    Pump the brakes. He might be a graham hatch, but that's his ceiling from everything I've seen.

                      :)

                      World rankings of teams Noam has played against ...
                      ---
                      Finland #24
                      Slovenia is #7 (!)

                      Honestly, I do think he'll be shell-shocked his first year of D1 ball just like most freshmen. But I think he'll settle in and get used to the new level of athleticism and pace and become a dominant PG his sophomore year. I think coaches would need to set an expectation early and often that his first year in NCAA D1 is likely going to be a massive learning curve for him, but it will make him a much better player like it did Gal.

                        Asbjorn was a big that takes longer to develop, never played for his senior national team, but still got offered an NBA Summer League invite. Asbjorn was way underutilized at WSU -- he had more to offer and his leash was way too tight here.

                          Oh did I mention that in his match against #7 in the world -- a game that Israel won -- Noam was tied for second on his team with the most points at 18? And had a Box +/- of 11 (the second highest)? With 7 assists (the most) on 3 turnovers (2.33 A/TO). And 7 rebounds (tied for most).

                          The kid can ball, there's no denying it. Question is will he go through the learning curve freshmen have to go through, or will he bolt for Euro money after one season?

                            Or will he get a spot in the Spanish league?

                              Understand the concern to buy in on FIBA U18 stats, but the tournament he played in & was 2nd in scoring featured 3 potential first round picks in this year’s draft (Sidy Cissoko, Rayan Rupert, Bilal Coulibaly). Israel has also had Deni Avdija go in the top 10 in the 2020 draft and Yam Madar got picked in the 2nd the same year, largely off of his FIBA U20 performance. So they are not a country without any history, and the talent pool is likely good enough to where he’s almost certainly not just outshining HS JV caliber kids. Also, not that Noam will do the same if he plays in the U20s, but Madar was completely off the NBA’s radar before that tournament.

                                Asbjorn turned out really good. So did Gal. They both left here before their junior year.
