I see Bush as a great walk-on who may later in his career be able to provide some serviceable minutes if/when needed. I'd love to see him surprise us all as a 6'6" guard is nice to think about.

If the young man is high jumping then he has some bounce. The problem I have with him is he seems to violate the POGO axiom...."if you leave your feet you could get hurt." My jump shot was more of a tippy toe shot but then again I never rolled an ankle because I came down on someone else's foot.

I have seen him play once in high school, had pretty good handles at the highschool level for a 6'6" kid. He does have some hops. He has high jumped 6 feet 8 inches. Put that in perspective look at the top of your door in your house. He can take his body over that height, high jump does not necessarily translate to basketball but I thought he had good handles, athletic and showed a good basketball IQ. Not a bad walk on to have and could turn into a contributor with the good coaching and some of Rosenboom's training.

There is a ton of video on him so you don't have to guess on his ability to jump or shoot. I also recall his twitter showing letters from WSU for track about 6 months ago so that should tell you he is an athlete. Like I said I don't know if he will be anything more than a walk on but I do know against suburban white kids he is a basketball king. How that translates into D1 basketball I don't know.
This link is from the initial post on this topic. I believe most of the video is from his junior year but whatever.

FWIW, I've seen Bush play several times--a few times as a junior, a couple times during his last AAU summer, and a couple of times this year as a senior. As a junior, Bush was a very spindly but long 6'4" kid who often ran the point at Goddard. He showed some great ballhandling skills and decent jumper but wasn't a particularly aggressive scorer (12 ppg). To me (at that time), he was a steal for a team in the KCAC or a reach for a school in the MIAA as a long wing with high basketball IQ and savvy.
I saw a different player over the summer. He had sprung to (what looked to be) a legitimate 6'6", had more muscle but was still thin, and had hops that he did not possess as a junior. He still was not a particularly aggressive scorer, however. He became more comfortable with this newfound athleticism and length as a senior when he put up unreal numbers (22 ppg, 9 rpg, 3-4 apg) all across the stat sheet, leading a fairly talented team in the AVCTL. To my point, he was a very late-blooming kid whose potential did not show itself much until this past season--which at the Division I level, is often too late.
In conclusion, upon seeing Bush as a senior with a killer mentality and now comfortable with his body, I re-evaluated his level. To me, he had turned himself into a low-major Division I level player or a system player at the mid-major level with a redshirt year. I believe that he would make a pretty nice player at a school like Nebraska-Omaha or a school in the Summit League (NDSU, S. Dakota St., etc.) given his length, athleticism and solid scoring skill set. At the mid-major level, I saw him as someone who would fit well in a balanced system (not uptempo) given a redshirt year to put on weight and let his body develop further. All this being said, I believe Bush has the potential to eventually earn a scholarship here. When (or if) that happens is a mystery to me, but he is a wing who certainly has some D-I tools.

I don't pretend to be a talent scout, but I do know that white guys tend to be underrated in terms of athleticism. We've seen that before with Wessel, who is consistently regarded on here as not necessarily all that athletic even though he was all-state in football (yes, I know, it's Kansas -- but it was still top 11) both ways at a skill position. It would be no surprise for that same underestimation to be happening with Bush as well. Of course, how that translates into actual on-court performance is the big unknown -- but it's way too early to write him off as a possibly meaningful contributor.

And I'm not sure how many have questioned Wessel's athleticism, but I know that some question his ability to play at this level. There's a difference. Just as we've seen freak athletes unable to play at this level.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

God is indeed good. Look back at some of our best teams in times past. We usually had a twist of local and statewide players to mesh with some National talent. Thus, it excites me to have such classy players from our area to help build this Shocker foundation.. In my mind, Joe, Evan, the maker Baker, and Zack, etc. are solid pieces of this ongoing Shocker puzzle that will lead us to places that we Shocker zealots long to visit. I like it. I like it a lot!!!!!!!Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

The interesting thing is Washburn didn't voluntarily release Zach they just didn't follow the proper notification requirements and the release was automatically granted without Zach even having to appeal.
Bush said a representative of the NCAA’s letter of intent office told him Washburn failed to give him proper notification of the decision not to release him. “That automatically released me and we don’t have to go through the appeals process,” he said.
The release means Bush will have four seasons of eligibility at WSU. He is eligible to play this season, although he said he plans to redshirt.
