    • Talk about under the radar, I'm excited about this kid.

Think how hyped this kid would be if he had a highlight video and we hadn't signed a 4* PG.

Here's a few videos from the first page just in case people forgot they're there.

        • While that's a nice minute and a half of made 3's, to me a highlight video shows a players entire game and is 3-4+ minutes long.

Don't get me wrong, the kid can stroke it.

?? The first link has 24 videos, some very short, others a minute or two long. Probably 15+ minutes there.

I agree. If you want to play Div. I BB successfully, you have to do more than play horse from 3 pt. range. That's the easiest thing to stop for an athletic defender. Very few teams play zone these days. Just ask Sean Ogirri in 2007 when the clamps were put on him. At his height, if he could learn to post up smaller players that defend him, and he learns how to move without the ball and get to the free throw line, he could be a dangerous offensive threat. 12 pts. is not a dominant high school player.

Just watch some video, cracks me up that you are complaining he can shoot 3's really well. He has other skills and I think you can see some of that here.

Watch Derail Green's videos and highlights on Hudl. More info: Klein Forest High School - Boys Varsity Basketball / SG / Class of 2012 / Houston, TX

Also he averaged 16.8 this year, I think Hawkins averaged 16.6 or so. Not trying to compare or insult Hawkins just pointing that out.

                    • Derail lead the league in scoring and was one of the top rebounders. If you watch just the first 2 or 3 of the 24 videos, you'll see he has a complete game. Inside, outside scoring, passing for assists, blocks, driving the ball down from the backcourt, backing players down, driving and using the right and left hand for scoring.

It's obvious that he has some very nice skills but I just not sure that he's quite ready for immediate Div. I play without some developement. He doesn't look aggressive and he stays out on the perimeter much more than he should with his size and skills. Physical players may give him some problems right now. He could have been dominant if he played more inside. He shot a lot of 3's (more than 2 pt. shots), and while his percentage at 3 is great, he should have been able to score more with post up skills. By the way, Hawkins isn't a ready made Div. I player either. I think that he may play earlier if he arrives only because we are so deep on the perimeter with good players and we aren't as deep inside. Just my opinion.

Did you see one time where he posted another player up to receive a pass from another player? Maybe he'll be a starter next year. I don't see it yet. I see at least 3 shooting guards in front of him and at least 2 small forwards. I'm not sure how good his defense is. You may be able to tell this from the video but I can't. However, he is a skilled player who will be a very good player for WSU in a couple of years.

                          • kevin durant shoots alot from outside too, and yea...he didnt have much "meat" on him either and needed to put on some muscle...look how the Blazers turned by not taking him 1st overall :/

                            • I'll tell you who he reminds me of. He reminds me of Aaron Ellis. He is a much better shooter and offensive player than Aaron. However, Aaron played exclusively a face up game and he coudn't learn how to develop a post up game with his back to the basket and that hurt his offensive prowess. I was a big Aaron Ellis fan because he had long arms, was very aggressive on the defensive end, he could rebound fairly well, and he did the little things. He wasn't very effective immediately though. While I think that because he is a much better shooter, Green will be a better player, he still has to gain aggression, etc.

If next year, Green is more like Durant than Ellis, and a great player from the get go, I'll be happy. Durant, even without much muscle, was a very good rebounder as a Freshman. If he's as good as you think, he'll be a mainstay immediately.
