Toure came into a depleted program and was able to start from Day 1. I think Derail has more talent coming out of high shool but also more quality competition. His skills will warrant playing time, although redshirting may also be an option.

        • If he shoots as well as advertised a redshirt may not be an option

We're going to need some makers next year, or teams will pack it in on us.

From what I've heard Baker = Maker

We'll be losing some good outside shooters for next year (Ragland, Smith, etc), but I think we'll have a lot more good shooters coming in next year and some who are already here.

                  • Our deep threats this year are really Ragland, Smith and Kyles. Williams is alright. He's the only one that returns. However, I think White and Baker will be options. Cotton hasn't been bad either in limited attempts. FVV and Green could bring in some needed firepower from outside and other areas. We're going to be good, just young. Valley play will be interesting...

                    • IMHO, Dwill will be a major player next season. I don't think he looks for his shot as much as some of the seniors have this year. He's a pretty good shooter/maker. I don't have time to look up the stats but I would think that he is on the same level as Rags was his jr season % wise.

It would not suprise me at all if we are dancing again next season.

                      • I checked Derail's profile @ rivals. He was pre-season rated 38th, so he would have had to have a better-than-expected Senior year. While he had a good Senior year, I don't think it was a breakout.

On the other hand, here's the good news: It looks like Deral might have grown an inch, as one website (not one of the major recruiting) now shows him @ 6' 8"

                        • Pardon me, I must say I left off the part about TAPPS state 5A team. I did look at his stats on Max Preps and he would be a shoo-in for all region, though.

Heart-Baker---Shot Maker---as the song goes? Well maybe not, but after watching the Dance, shot-makers that can rain down the the 3's makes me glad for Mr. Baker's arrival. However, let's not forget that "Mr. Green, the scoring machine" will also be able to drain the J. Between them, FVV, D-Will, etc., maybe we can drain a 'bakers dozen' of three's on nights where we play the UNLV's and Creightons of the world and want 19-21 point surpasses. I remember Toure' mentioning DG with praise.

                              • I just wanted to point out that this guy was 80-183 from 3 pt land this year. Thats for a nice 44% over 183 shots from deep.
