This has got to be rough for you with your disdain for all things Juco.

First, I don't hate all things JUCO. Second, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with him being a JUCO. If he were a freshman I'd feel the same way.

First, I knew that it was not just a juco thing. Secondly, you DO HATE ALL THINGS JUCO, just admit it.

Still untrue. I definitely prefer FR over JC. JC fills a need when there's a glaring weakness. It shouldn't be used as a major tool in building a program. That is how I feel about JC.

I don't like this situation, but it's the natural progression of what we've been seeing for at least a decade, and that no matter what institution is printed on the LOI, players commit to coaches (and assistant coaches).

It's one of those things that we probably just need to accept as a part of college athletics. As fans we don't really have any influence on that aspect of the game.

If he comes here, I understand and will accept it. If USM doesn't let him out of his LOI, I will understand and accept that, too.

I know they can let him out with the restriction that he cannot re-sign with another team in the same conference, but can they release him with the restriction that he can sign with anybody EXCEPT the Shockers? Has that ever been done?

I'm pretty sure that we talked about this when the Bowles situation surfaced and that you can't put that kind of restriction of a player's release.

We might be paid back now...Get over it
I for one would think it would be great!

And it's the league that puts those kind of restrictions and has nothing to do with where the recruit can attend. In some instances transfers have to sit out an additional year if they transfer within the conference, but that has nothing to do with signees.

There's no doubt in my mind that this kid could come in here and have a big impact on this program and elevate us even more. I still don't like it. It's not right and it shouldn't be done. By anyone.

I'm with Sub on this, for the most part. The only thing that makes it somewhat problematic is that it really sucks for a recruit to have the coach bail on them. For most kids the most important factor in where they want to play ball is the coaches, not the arena, practice facilities, fan base, or academic strengths of the school (although these things are important for some). So, while I don't like it, I could see from the athlete's perspective why he wouldn't necessarily want to stick around. And I could see why he would still want to play for the coach that he thought would be the best fit for him.

I understand all of that from the recruits perspective. If he doesn't want to stick with the initial school I understand that too. But I don't feel that coaches should accept or take them along when they leave. They should be allowed to find another school that will make them happy though.

So what would this situation look like in the workplace:

Super Boss works at a Bank and has a great employee that is a hard worker and exceptional at their job. When Super Boss takes a new job as Vice President of a new bank, Super Boss gets in contact with said employee and offers them a job. Employee agrees and comes aboard because the new job is a better situation for them. Right or wrong?

Those that don't like it that the young man may come to WSU, would it make a difference if the agenda is being pushed exclusively by the young man? Perhaps all the WSU coaches have told him that he should stick with his commitment to USM. BUT, if the young man does not want to stay at USM, then are we really going to deny him an opportunity to play where he wants? He certainly does not owe an explanation of his actions to satisfy shockernet's arbitrary recruiting ethics, does he?
