Actually we really do not know if it was a package deal or not. First of all, at this point there is no package. Secondly, there is no real evidence that supports either the Yes or No position on whether hiring Coach Heiar was tied to bringing DeWitt with him.

If DeWitt does end up at WSU, then you have a really good question to lead off next year's 1st coach's show with.

Well, I watched the whole game, watching DeWitt and Hall, quite an ending to the game. DeWitt doesn't look to be much of a scorer, but seems like a good shot blocker. Hall was double and triple teamed all night, and was at the foul line a lot.

Coach Heiar (is it pronounced 'Hire') won 92.6% of his games at Chipola, and that is outstanding in anyone's book. He looks to be a very good hire, and for him and Coach Jans and Coach Ford to be working together again will mean more success for the Shockers.

Indications that he has already talked to WSU.

I won't be surprised at all if this happens. I think USM would let him out of his commitment, even if it was just the assistant coach that left. If the kid doesn't want to go there, they won't stand in his way. At least that is typically how it works.

Like it or not, DeWitt seems to be a good addition should it happen.

ok let's review what we already know regarding this thread. We know for sure that Baker said that he is walking on this year because a scholarship is being saved for an unnamed 6'8 recruit.

Now, new information has come to light that we have hired an asst coach from USM that is bringing with him a 6'11 player in a package deal. This thread is like a swarm of sharks going after a package of meat.

More than likely the 6-8 guy was Goff. When Capel left it looked pretty good for him to be a Shocker. A check on his academics probably ruined that. Then something better happened.

If so --- much, much better.

I assume it is a reference to not liking taking players with you that are committed to a school.

There is nothing to dislike about DeWitt, but coaches taking players with them to the school they go to is certainly a gray area (not definitively wrong since players ought to have some ability to play for the coach they developed a relationship, but not without ethical issues).
I didn't like it when Bowles followed Turgeon to aTm and I would hate to see Hall and the other recruits that Dollar signed follow him. This does seem to be more and more the way things are done now days.

On the flip side I would love to see a front line rotation that goes 7', 7', 6'11", 6'8" and 6'8". I have seen both DeWitt and Hall ranked in the top 5 JUCOs of the year.

                        Maybe some zone next year?

Watched a bit of NW FL vs Chipolla.. holy cow. DeWitt can really handle the basketball for his size (that includes passing)! He's got skills!

DeWitt (if..), Hall and White would give WSU a top-twenty recruiting class, methinks.

If you add Ede, Wessel, Cotton, and Baker? Are we top ##? Remember we are just a poor mid-major! :posterwu: :goshocks: :posterwsu:

I will welcome him with open arms if he comes here. Lord knows we've been shafted and had wretched luck with this sort of thing a dozen times over the last 25 years, I'd love to benefit for once.

This would go a long way to plugging the gaping hole in my hopes that the Gabe debacle left.
