  • Back on topic for a second (and probably no more than that, in these parts), it's amusing to look back at the first page or two of this thread and see some of the comments from March of last year. It's striking how foggy the crystal ball can be, although a few posters boldly -- and rightly, it turns out -- guessed that somehow the 2011-12 team would be better than its predecessor.

    • Is this coming Thursday, April 12th, not the very day we get a visit from Mr. Wiggins? Let's just say we sign 1 or 2 more solid recruits that adds to the fold of the very best recruiting class of Coach Marshall's ever? Would this incite a "shot in the arms" of Shocker Nation?

      • Coach Marshall refers to this recruiting class as his best ever. Can somebody remember the last time in Shocker History we had such a fine recruiting class? I'm no sure we are even done yet? Now, also add the 3-players that set out last Season and throw them in the mix. Could it be possible that this Season's team will actually be more talented than last Season, just not as experienced?

        • I think it is very possible it is more talented but definitely no where near as experienced.

          • If Hawkins is eligible, next years team has plenty of talent both out front and underneath. Then the next year, we need to sign someone like Uchebo from Chipola next November, because we lose both Hall and Orupke. We would definitely be set up for a couple of years more.

            • isnt there 3 ways to qualify, ACT score, a certain GPA score and or taking the Board of Regents core classes and passing them with a certain GPA? I mean damn, you gotta not go to class or just not care to not make into a BOR school in Kansas.

I haven't looked this up, but I'm pretty sure those guidelines only apply to instate applicants and it would be slightly more difficult for somebody out of state. There is also a tougher guideline to get through the NCAA clearinghouse, though again I'm not sure what those requirements are.

                  • Are we done for this recruiting class or do we still bring in another Big for good measure? Has anybody heard whether we have any visitors coming in before this signing period ends that they would like to share with the SN class? I know we don't dare over-hype any new players but I have heard that Mr. Baker and Mr. Green are keepers and will make us happy SN'ers. Both can drain the rock through the nylon from back, way back, back, back. U dig?

                    • Well, our "Mag. 7" is complete? Dunno but it will all come 'out in the wash' as to whom all will land here. Whew!!! What a reload!!! Don't forget Mr, Armstead, or Ron Baker and his 6'7" wingspan even though he is around 6'4". Baker will Give D-Will a run for his money for P.T.. Thinking about C. Early and Hall in our games together is kewl. FVV almost lives in gyms so he will not remind us of a Frosh. most of the times. Wiggins can score, Green can shoot and I really want to see Hawkin's here. More to follow.

                      • Our up and coming team does indeed have a very nice injection of Juco players. Combine this fact with our very solid group of highschool players coming in and that helps the 'sting' of losing of 5 very key Seniors. Then we have a College Transfer in Malcom, EO from Overseas, Joe Mitchell and Ron Baker who came here as Walk-Ons. Put this all together and it is the best of the best in the Marshall Plan in terms of recruiting from many sources to rebuild a nice foundation that is sure to make a lot of noise next Season. Now combine this with our nucleus of returning players, Carl "How Sweet It Is to Have Him Back" Hall, D-Will, Cotton, EO, White, and Evan W.

What we got here is 'not a failure to communicate' that we will be a top 3-4 Valley Team that will have the Chance to at least make a run at repeating as Valley Champs. Is this asking too much too quick? It will be interesting where the pre-season prognosticaters place us in this Valley Race. I'm thinkng they will say around third to fifth. We should be as good, probably better than advertised? Stay tuned. I would hate to wish my life away but is it October yet?

                            • If Armstead isn't on a 'ship, it would only need to be one. And that may be someone who isn't going to be eligible so nobody would need to transfer.

                              • I'm still thinking another option, if needed, is for Evan to RS and pay his own way for 1 year. I just don't see where his playing time will come from at the 2/3 with DWill (1 year), Early (2 years), Wiggins (2), Cotton (3), and Baker (4). He has a year up on Green, but with all these players (none of which are being considered here as not showing up), it would be until his senior year before meaningful minutes. With a RS, it could be his junior year.

I hope we are as strong in these positions as I think we are AND Evan proves me wrong.
