    Minnesota is interested in Landry:

    Visiting April 8th Weekend

… Guy Landry 6-5 210 G/F Midland CC, TX – He almost doubled season numbers in Hutch, averaging 17.6 points and 8.3 boards for the tourney. He has range to three (40% 3fgp) can create and finish at rim, and has handle to create drive or run break off glass. He has big bounce too! He has interest from Miami (FL), Seton Hall, Wichita State, Iowa, Minnesota, and Missouri State …

Michigan State message board talk only mentions his visits to Tennessee, Minnesota and MSU. BCS fans can really honk me off.

Trust me, we're all over this guy. Landry's a player and could be a star here, and not have to wait or share much time.

We're THE ONLY winner on his list.

Seton Hall's going nowhere, Minnesota is bad, Iowa is worse, SWOMO is going to be down immediately. Miami's going to find a new warden and Tennessee....well let's just say Coach Martin has his work cut out for him from day 1.

By FAR AND AWAY his best chance at success, titles and NCAA run is at Wichita State.

I also feel confident his assistant coach is reviewing which choice would be the superior one.

Let's see...we have 80 minutes to divide up between 3 seniors (Smith, Murry, and Kyles) at the SG and SF. Just who's going to take the biggest hit and how little time will they see next year if Landry comes here?

                From Paul Sullentrop...

On the hunt — A recruiting contact period started Thursday, sending WSU coaches out to try to leverage the NIT success.

One recruit who knows all about the Shockers is Midland Community College forward Guy Landry, a 6-foot-5 sophomore from Paris, France. He has long been a target for WSU, and former Shocker Matt Braeuer is an assistant at Midland.

Landry is scheduled to visit WSU on Friday. Schools such as Texas-El Paso, Michigan State and Tennessee are also in the picture.

Landry helped Midland to a runner-up finish in the NJCAA Tournament and earned a spot on the all-tournament team. He averaged 16.2 points and seven rebounds in Hutchinson. He could help the Shockers as a forward who is big and athletic enough to play in the lane. He is mobile enough to guard forwards who shoot from three-point range, such as Missouri State's Kyle Weems and Northern Iowa's Jake Koch.

I hope we give him the 5 star treatment when he is here on Friday. Koch Arena is a great arena with its bowl like feel to it, and I hope he gets a feel for how great it would be to play there.

It doesn't, but this kid has options. We'll see what happens. We have as good a shot as any, and this kid is a big time player.

I realize that sometimes you simply take "the best available" at times, but this one still stumps me a little. You will have 3 seniors at the 2/3 next year with Smith , Murry, and Kyles. That's 26-27 minutes per player. Add Landry and everyone's is down to 20 mpg or some a little more and some a little less.

Plus, DWill can and does play the 2 some. Does Richardson sit another year? Wessel red-shirt? Wouldn't they both benefit from a little PT next year in prep for when the seniors are gone the next year?
