I would love to but probably don't have the time. I think you were doing a great job and should keep it going!

By the way the pre-meet poll came out with both Shocker teams 4th. I think the coaches have underestimated WSU. Remember in cross country the Shockers were picked 2nd/5th and went 1st/4th. Rainbolt and Burns get their teams to perform when it counts.

My main thoughts on this meet and keys for the Shockers to do well:
MEN - UNI should win this meet, they are still just too deep in several events and will have to completely fall apart at home. The battle will be between WSU, SIU, and Indiana State for 2nd. WSU will need a big meet from the sprinters and jumpers and will need to get some production from the distance events (which are improving greatly each week). The top 4 teams will go head to head in most of the sprint events for the top places so major point swings can take place.

WOMEN - SIU appears to be a slight favorite and although Indiana St and Missouri State are picked 2nd and 3rd, I don't think they are much ahead of WSU. The performance list is not exactly accurate because both ISU and MSU have girls in events they won't be able to enter (example Earnest in the 200/400/800) so just with that the Shockers should be in the mix for 2nd. SIU might be too tough to beat but they are definitely within reach with a great performance for WSU. The thing is WSU is depending heavily on freshmen and newcomers and you just don't know how they will react to their first conference championship. It is a different kind of environment and while one freshman might go nuts and have a great meet another one might pee down their leg and go the other way.

But both Shocker teams seem to be getting better each week. The two matchups of the meet will be Kellyn Johnson against Pasca Cheryiot in multiple distance races (both are big-time runners of national caliber) and the men's heptathlon where there are 2 returning national qualifiers (Dickman WSU, Clark UNI) as well as Justin Taylor (WSU) and a UNI freshman who scored 5400 in his first college multi this year. Should be epic battles.

For those of you who have never been to a conference track and field meet, it is really an amazing competition full of drama for 2 (or 3 outdoor) days. Hopefully we'll see plenty of Shocker fans in Cedar Falls!

Mens multis under way as well.

The heptathalon is a battle royal between WSU and UNI. For WSU, Juniors Chris Dickman and Justin Taylor should battle Senior Mat Clark and talented Freshman Daniel Gooris from UNI. Chris really needs to win here.....Justin will do well to get 4th and probably can't challenge for 3rd. Any other points from Justin Hickey and Jordan Zerr will be needed as well.

I'll try to concentrate on the top 4 and other Shocks that appear to be outperforming their own form.

Dickman wins the 60 in just a tick off his PR in 7.01, a good start that he must have to win.

Justin Taylor finished 3rd, .05 off his PR, in 7.15. Justin Hickey finished 4th in 7.36 (ties PR) and Jordan Zerr 10th in 7.49 (PR 7.46).

Mat Clark for UNI ran 7.12 and Daniel Gooris 7.44......I have a hard time finding UNI's best times and scores to compare.

          Long jump results up now.

Looks like Mat Clark caught a flyer and went 7.29. Gooris finished 2nd at 7.05. By my calculations Chris Dickman went almost a foot over his season best at 7.03 at 3rd. Justin Talyor also seemed to have a season best at 6.99 finishing 4th. Justin Hickey finished 9th @ 6.25 and Jordan Zerr 10th @ 6.20.

That appears to be a really good distance for Hickey and not so much for Zerr.

I wish I was there....online only. I think it would be a blast to attend this event.

I had a great time at the Outdoor event a few years back.

                Men's shot results are in.

Justin Taylor won the event with a throw of 13.39 which was a really good hept throw but he has gone further in open. Chris Dickman was 7th at 11.01, his season best and a decent number for him in his weakest event.

Through 3 events, Taylor is 2nd and Dickman 3rd.

Weight throw and pole vault getting ready to start. Awaiting high jump results and hopefully a move up for Chris Dickman.

I don't see any points in the weight throw. Beau Morris needs a good result in the pole vault. I can't see him above 3rd. Hopefully no worse than 4th.

Justin Taylor continues a strong Day 1 with a 2nd place tie in the high jump. Chris Dickman finished 4th.

After day 1 Mat Clark leads, Taylor and Dickman are 2 and 3 and Gooris is 4th.

We probably will finish 3,4 at the end but if Dickman can have a BIG Pole vault then he has a chance.....and that is something he is more than capable of.....Justin is going to be in deep water in the 1000.

                      Weight throw done.

No Shocker made the final and that was of little surprise.

Pole vault, long jump and 5000 upcoming.....Shocks are way behind as team but that is not surprising. They need to make some hay in these events.

We have a good chance to score with 2 or 3 long jumpers and a couple of vaulters.

Scott Reed coming up big in the 5k would be nice as well.

Ugh....no score in the 5k. Scott Reed and Marius Sava finish 10th and 12th in a highly competitive race. 10 seconds covered places 6-13 in a 15 minute race.

Let's check the women and see if things are any better.

Chris Allen (expected) and Sam Garrison (not expected) made the 60 hurdles finals.

Garrison may have caught a flyer as his time was .13 under his PR.
