Here is Murkel's match-clinching service ace to finish off the Tulsa match. You may want to watch the video in full screen mode. Murkel's racket is out of the frame when he makes contact to you have to pick the ball up in mid-flight and it had some mustard on it.

I don't think the Tulsa player had a prayer to return that thing.

The Shocks picked up a Havoc in the Heartland win as they edged Tulsa 4-3 in Tulsa on Monday evening in a very tight match.
The Shocks needed a tiebreaker to win the doubles point which proved to be key. After the teams split the No. 1 and 2 doubles Shocker co-captains Eddie Stoica and Haru Inoue were tied at 6-6 after 12 games and were at 6-6 in the tiebreaker to determine the winner of the No. 3 doubles when they won the next two points for 7-6 (8-6) win and the doubles point.
Tulsa won the #1 singles easily 6-1, 6-1 but WSU's Andrea Caligiana took the #6 singles in straight sets at 7-5, 6-4 and Eddie Stoica won the #5 singles 6-3, 6-4 to put the Shocks up 3-1.
However, Tulsa fought back winning the #2 singles in a 3rd set tiebreaker 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-2) and the the #4 singles in 3 sets 7-5, 5-7, 7-5 to tie the match at 3 all.
WSU's Murkel Dellien was the last to finish in the #3 singles a pulled out a 6-4, 6-7 (6-8), 6-3 three set battle to secure the win.
In matches involving AAC teams Tulsa has a 5-2 win over USF and a 2-5 loss to #20 Tulane both in Tulsa. Tulsa was WSU's first AAC match and they also play SMU on April 6th in Dallas.
TULSA, Okla. – Wichita State took on conference foe Tulsa, Monday evening in a thriller at the Case Tennis Center. Shocks step down a bit in weight-class and pick up a 7-0 win over UMKC at Geneisis Health Cluc on Sunday and move to 2-5 on the season.
Shocks won the doubles point pretty handily but most of the singles matches were pretty competitive.

Here is a look at today's match with Cornell from Cornell's web site.
http://cornellbigred.com/news/2018/1...ual-debut.aspx
Stoica/Inoue win the #3 doubles 6-4 but Delien/Froza and Herson/Caligiana lose at #1 and #2 doubles by identical 4-6 scores and Cornell goes up 1-0.
Shocks will now have to win 4 of 6 singles matches to win the the match.
So far Shocks have been competitive but not sucessful. They are down 0-1 in all 6 single matches losing 3 of those 6 sets in tiebreakers and 2 by 4-6 scores. There back could not be more up agaisnt the wall.
Shocker Eddie Stoica fell in #4 singles 4-6, 1-6 and Shocker Andrea Trapani fell in #5 singles 3-6, 1-6. Cornell clinches with 1 more win.
Murket Dellien falls in #3 signles 4-6, 6-4, 1-6 and Cornell clinches the match.
Miroslav Herzan wins in #6 singles using a super tiebreaker 6-7, 7-6, (10-4) to avoid a sweep.
Marius Frosa falls in #2 singles 6-7, 5-7.
Cornell gets the seep as Haru Inoue falls to the 95th ranked player in a super tiebreaker 6-7, 6-4 (8-10).
Shocks fall 6-1 in a match much closer than the final score indicates.Last edited by 1972Shocker; January 25, 2018, 07:18 PM.

Shocks face Cornell tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 pm. The Shocks will then drop down to the Boston area this Saturday and Sunday at the Harvard Inivte although I am not sure who they will be playing. Looks like a 4-team event with Harvard, Wichita State, Auburn and Utah.Last edited by 1972Shocker; January 24, 2018, 06:03 PM.
