Most seriously was Coach Louderback's prostate cancer diagnosis in December and his surgery in January plus whatever chemotherapy and/or irradiation he had to go through. Hopefully, Coach Louderback's surgery and treatment have been successful. Thoughts and prayers to him, his family and team.

To add insult to injury the Shocks lost there No. 1 player and the best player in the Valley when Sr. Tin Ostojic sprained his ankle early April and has only played 1 doubles match since then -- on April 16th and he lost that match. He may or may not be able to go this weekend.

Coach Louderback invited 3G in to make a pep talk to his team heading into the MVC/AEC Tournament.

    Good luck Shocks.

The American East teams went 0-3 on Friday with all 4 of the Valley teams in the semi-finals. A long way to travel for no reward but the did serve their purpose in allowing the Valley to get an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. They did get to experience a nice Kanss Horizontal Thurderstorn on Friday.

Looks like it has been a pretty competitive match so far but the Shocks are up 3-0 and need to win just of the remaining 4 singles matches.

Tin got off to a strong strart in his #1 singles match but ended up losing it 7-6 in tiebreaker. You have to wonder what his conditioning is since he has not done much the last month.

Jocelyn Devilliers wins his #3 singles match 6-2 and 7-6 to clinch the win and spot in Sunday's finals for the Shocks.

The will play the winner of the match between #2 seeded SIU and #4 seeded Drake tomorrow at 10:00 am.

Drake has been the class of the Valley in recent years and they beat the Shocks (sans Ostojic) 4-1 on April 9th. The Shocks beat SIU 4-2 in April 17th. Either opponent will be a tough match for the Shocks.

After the things Coach Louderback and the Shocks have been through this year I would love to see them get a match in the NCAA Tournament.

Shocker men will face Drake, who gained some revenge on SIU today with a 4-0, in Sunday's championship match.

Shocks pick up what could be a very important 1 in the doubles. Ostojic-Devilliers take the #1 doubles 7-5 and Herzan-Inoue prevail 6-2 in #2 doubles. de Vilchez-Stoica were tied 6-6 at #3 doubles when the Shocks clinched the point.

Singles matches tighten up with Ben Lott for Drake forcing a 3rd set against Shocker #1 Tim Ostojic by taking a 2nd set tiebreak.

The Shocks do lead 2 matches by a set and a break as Stoica and Inoue could close out their matches any minute and give the Shocks a 3-0 lead.

Haru Inoue does indeed finish off Bayo Phillips for Drake 6-4, 6-2.

                    2-0 Shockers

And Eddie Stoica beats Tom Hands for DU 7-5, 6-2 and it's 3-0 Shocks, needing just one more point.

That being said, the 4th point is going to be hard to come by.

Tin is down a break in the 3rd. Devilliers is down a set and on serve in the 2nd as is Sergio de Vilchez and Herzan is up a set but on serve in the 2nd.

Sergio forces a 3rd set for the Shocks at #6. Tin trails 0-3 in the 3rd. Make it 0-4. This match has really turned as Tin bageled his opponent in the 1st set.

It's possible that as many as 3 matches could end in the next 3-10 minutes. And it could be winner winner chicken dinner for the Shocks or 3-2 WSU and the Shocks would have their hands very, very full.

Shocks lead 3-0 but nothing is settled. All 4 remaining singles matches are up for grabs. Based on how Tin has played in the tournament I would have to conclude that stamina is an issue for him.

Calum MacGeoch for Drake beats Jocelyn Devilliers in a 2nd set tiebreak and takes the singles #3 point 6-3, 7-6.

Ben Lott completes the comeback against the Shocker's Tin Ostojic 0-6, 7-6, 6-2 at the #1 singles and it's now 3-2 Shocks.

They are just starting the 3rd set at the #6 and the #2 is about to go to the 3rd.

de Vilchez down 1-4 in #6 singles. Looking like it will be up to Miroslav Herzan in #2 singles currently at 1-1 in the 3rd.

I think as you and I both feared, this is going to come down to the wire. Drake is up a break and a hold at the 6.

It's likely going to be decided between Drake's Vinny Gillespie and WSU's Miroslav Herzan at the #2. Herzan took the first set 7-6 but lost a break late in the 2nd and ended up dropping that set 7-5 and now trails 2-1 in the 3rd.

If the Shocks can't change the direction of old Uncle Mo here in the next few minutes, the Geese may be the ones dancing.

Herzan is now down a break 1-3 in the third and the Shocks are in very deep water.

                                Make it 1-4.

Sergio breaks back at the 6 and they are on serve at 3-4.
