Really good race. I was convinced ADL had made the winning move between 400-200M to go and coming out of the last turn thought we had the champion but Greder had just a tiny bit more in the last 30 meters or so to get by ADL. That result has to tighten up the expected team results, doesn't it?

I just watched the end of the women's race and the men's race. Tough conditions. At the end of the womens race qutie of few ladies ended up prostrate on tthe track. As the color commentator, who I liked, said humidity is the poor man's altitutude and this became a tactical race of toughness and dealing with adversity and the Shockers responded mangificently.

It did look like ADL had it in that last 400 but Greder just had a little more in the tank over the last 50 meters. With hidnsight maybe ADL made his move about 100 too soon. Not sure I remember a 10k race with so many guys in the lead pack with 1,500m to go.

Based on the performance charts coming into the race it was hard to know what to expect from the Shocks especially considering the lack of racing by ADL and Ben during the season. Not sure what the Shocker coaches were hoping for internally. And, if course, you could not predict how the schedule change and the weather condtions would come into play.

The Decathlon is being decided right now. Hall from Cincinnati is unloading as he just bested his Discus PR by more than 3 meters at 40M+ while Adria is struggling to get within shouting distance of his with a best throw of just over 26 meters with 1 throw to come. That is a point difference that Adria will not be able to overcome. And if the last 2 throws are any indication of his form, he's not likely to improve. He has looked terrible throwing the discus today.

Adria just lost about 240 or so points to the leader. Can't see him overcoming that now. In fact, he's fallen to at least 3rd place overall, if not 4th. Nathan Vann had a very strong Discus performance.

Adria Navajon had a strong 110m race to open Day 2 of the heptathlon as he won that race in a new PB of 14.36 good for 929 followed closely by Cincinnati's Dominique Hall at 14.71 good for 885 points.

However, Adria had a very poor discus effort as he could only manage a 28.78m/94-5 which is 11th out of 12 competitors that only netted him 440 points. In the meantime, Dominque Hall set a 3m personal best 40.21m/131.11 good for 669 points. Very possible that this result may have torpedoed Adria;s chances to repeat as AAC decathlon champion.

Meanwhile Nathan Vann ran close to his PB in 110H and alos set a 3m personal best in the DT at 37.73m/123-9 and has moved into 2nd place trailing Hall by 179 points. Hudson Bailey is 3rd trailing by 274 points and Adria is 4th trailing by 300 points. So, Hall, a very good athlete is sitting in pretty good shape with 3 events to go.

Yep. Adria probably is going to have to set PB's in the remaining 3 events, pole vault, javelin and 800 and maybe get a subpar resutl or to from Hall to make up the hole he is in. But his best events are behind him.

Watching Adria in the pole vault. He has his right calf wrapped and has k-tape on his left knee. He just doesn't look quite right phsysically.

Now I noticed Adria has k-tape on the lower back side of his left leg and he is not moving well. I admire his toughness but he is only a sophomore and his long-term health is the most important thing.

The Houston athlete was only able to clear 3.15, a full meter below the other athletes competing for points. I think that will put 5 Shockers in scoring position with the 1500 to go. Mostly good results from all our jumpers. Adria struggled mightily but cleared 4 different heights on his 3rd and final attempt to clear a respectable 4.35.

Nathan Vann actually out jumped the leader Hall from Cincy to close the gap but he still trails by more than 140 points. I have no idea what to expect in the javelin & 1500 besides pain.

Nate Vann is having a terrific decathlon so far.

Nate's PB in the javelin is 158-11. Hall's PB is 140-3. That spread is worth about 83 points. Not enough to catch Hall.

Nate's PB in the 1500 is 4:49.03 and Hall's is 4:50.76. Who knows how running in these conditions will impact those times.

Adria has a PB of 155-9 in the javelin and and a solid 4:35.97 in the 1500 but I am pretty much disscounting his chances due to whatever injuries he is dealing with.

The Shockers are currently in 2nd (Vann), 3rd (Navajon), 4th (Bailey), 7th (Caster), 8th (Luetzinger) and 9th (Porter). Only 7 points separate aLuetzinger and Porter.

If the Shock can hang on to those positions they would score 22 points which I think they would be very happy with considering Adria's issues.

Pretty good javelin reuslts for the Shocks.

Freshan Luke Porter wins he event throwing 54.50m/178-9

Nate Vann, after 2 sub par unloads a new PB on his final thow of 49.29m/161-8 to finish 2nd.

Hudson Baily finished 3rd at 160-3, Adria Navajon finished 4th at 151-5.

Cincy's Hall hit his best throw of his 3 attempts by far on his final throw and finished 8th at 146-4.

Heading into the final event, the 1500m run, Hall stilll leads but Nate is only 80 points behind.

Dominique Hall runs an 11 second PB in the 1500 to seal the deal with total score of 7,498. A new AAC Championship record.

Nate Vann finishes 2nd at 7,332. A new PB and a great way to close out his Shocker career.

Adria Navajon is 3rd at 7,064 in what I think was a valiant effort as he was clearly fighting through some aches and pains.

Hudson Bailey is 4th at 7,038 with a new PB.

Luke Porter (6,389) and Kolby Caster (6,301) finished in the scorign at 7th and 8th. As the Shockers do, in fact, collect 22 points in this event.

Adria Navajon, understandably, withdrew from the 110H prelims which are being run under the lights and in the rain.

However, his Shocker teammates Joseph Holthusen and Jaleel Montgomey finished 4th and 5th in the prelims and will qualify for tomorrow's 8-man final.

Shocker junior Iestyn Williams just misses qualifying in the 800m run by 0.25 seconds. Pretty fast times in these 3 preliminary heats. I think the distance runner like runner under the lights in a light rain.

The Shockers failed to qualify anyone for the 100, 200, 400 or 800 finals.

Clayton Duchatschek was the favorite in the 3000m steeplechase but faded over the last barrier and home stretch and finished 2nd.

Not sure how the long jump ended up as the stats are not available. At one point Yuben Goncalves had the lead. Adria Navajon withdrew as he did in the 110H due to injury.

Update: Yuben finished 2nd in the long jump.

There was roughly ten fans attendance yesterday and seven of them looked disinterested.

Move it back to Wichita for good.

Brady Palen and Weston Lewis finished 2nd and 3rd in the high jump which is about the best they could expect to do with USF's NCAA Champion Romaine Beckford in the mix.

While Beckford did win the event with a jump of 2.17m/7-1.5 that is actually a little below par for him.

Brady cleared 2.14m/7-0.5 for 2nd and Weston cleared 2.05m/6-8.75 for 3rd.

Hudson Bailey finished 6th clearing 1.95m/6-4.75 but he had cleared 2.07m/6-9.5 on Friday in the decathlon high jump so I'm sure he was bit disappointed with this resullt.

Adrai Navajon was again forced to withdraw due to injury.

Nevertheless the Shocks did accumulate 17 points in this event.

The Shocks pick up 5 points with a 4th place finish in the 4x100 relay. Nice anchor leg by Jaleel Montgomery.

Houston won as expected and will now start to pile up the points.
