150 to 160. We are at 170.5. I had Houston at 195 but that included a 1-2 finish in the pole vault for 18 points but they only ended up with 6 in that event. This could get interesting if a couple of more things break the Shockers way.

    • We’ve got a shot, but probably have to score 2-4 points in the 5k or get lucky in the 200 . We need ECU TO WIN THE 200 and limit Houston’s scoring.

      • It will be interesting to see how Yuben can do in the 400m hurldes that includes 4 Houston Cougars in the 8-man final.

I think Yuben did okay. Houston finished 1, 3, 6 and 8 for 20 points. Yuben finished 5th for 4 points.

Just a terrific meet for the Shocker by way of Portugal.

        • That wasn’t terrible. Dang we almost got a top 3 finish too!

          • We only lost 16 points there, and lead by 29.50.

Houston has another chance to close in the 200 BUT the best they can do is a 28 point difference.

            • The Shockers have a similar situation in the 200m dash as sophomore Joakim Generoux is the lone Shocker going up against 4 Cougars in the 8-man final.

              • Only 3 events remain. Worst result in the relay is Houston +9. I don’t think Houston will score in the 5K. So if WSU can limit the damage to -20 in the 200 they should win.

                • This is such an underrated college sport. By and large, man vs man without interference by referees or umpires. Pure classical competition.

                  • The key may be how Trey Rios, Clayton Duchatscheck and Ben Flowers can do against the Tulsa long distance dynasty in the 5k.

I don't think the Shocks are particularly strong in the 4x400 meter relay that will close out the meet.

                    • 200 hope the ECU guy finishes as high as possible and we don’t finish last. Actually anyone that can beat any UH runner will be fantastic for us.

As well as Joakim perhaps having a personal best effort. for the Shocks.

                          • 26 points for Houston with Joakim getting 4 points for his 5th place finish. Good job by the Shocker sophomore.

Shocks lead 178.5 to 171 with the 5k and 4x400 left. Shocks need to pick up 3 more points in the 5k than Houston does. And that is possible.

                            • Houston closed 22 points. 7.5 lead.

                              • We need 2 points in the 5k to clinch the title.

Also a finish of 6th or higher in the relay would work, regardless of Houston’s result unless they pull a stunner and score in the 5k.
