what is frustrating for me to watch is marshall's substitution patterns. after jt durley scored an easy bucket in the first half and seemed to be getting into the flow of the offense he pulled him. after williams went to the hole and got fouled, albeit he was a little out of control, he pulled him. he also relies way to much on the offense/defense substitution with the bigs. i fail to see why, especially tonight, blair needed to be pulled in offensive situations.

The straw that broke D Will's back is when, with a lead, he comes streaking down the left sideline towards our bench. Marshall gave him the two hand, slow it down, stop sign. D Will decides to continue to penetrate and dribbles off his leg. Never got off the pine after.

Its because when Ben gets the ball he doesnt just stand there for thirty seconds looking around. Plus, Ben doesnt throw the ball away every time he touches it. Hatch doesnt bring anything to the game. People say he is such a good defender, but if you watch he gets burned more than anyone else. Ben takes care of the ball very well! Plus when Hatch drives hard to the left everytime, he usually gets fouled and he cant make free throws!!! Just like Murry!!!

I'm disappointed in Hatch's performance this year, but I'm not seeing where Smith is obviously a better option.

In the first 6 minutes of play we scored 13 points, in the next 6 minutes of play after substitutions came in, we scored 6 points. I also noticed when Murry and Hatch were in playing during the regular game, any lead we had gradually went away. Murry seemed snakebit during the regular game, but he did come on during the OT's. I don't know what's up with Hatch, but I expect it's a little of something like he expects other players to do it. Maybe marriage has softened him up too much.

I do know 1 thing though, I am not happy about how the coaching staff is coaching for offense. They need to do a better job of planning offensive sets and plays. If Murry hadn't been fouled over in the corner during OT, we would have lost the game by 1 point.

That's exactly what I witnessed... his a$$ should have been on the bench after that jack-a$$ move that nearly cost us the game. One of many boneheaded plays on the night, but when you don't listen to the coach in that situation, it's immediate pine time.

Has anyone noticed how bad we are in close game situations? The majority of our wins have been lopsided where our scrubs have been getting mop up minutes at the end. However, our last 3 home games, which all happened to be close, we got outcoached and it seemed like we didn't know how to act in those situations. We are a veteran club now with a supposed high-major coach. Now after the first close loss, I figured we would have learned a thing or two. I'm not convinced however. This game should have been won in regulation and in the first overtime.

I'm probably coming off as anti-coach right now, but I was extremely frustrated after that one. I'm heavily concerned when we have games within 5 points in the last couple of minutes of a game.

Off the top of my head, close game wins against LSU, Tulsa, and Indiana State. You are going to win some and lose some close ones. Don't let em get close.

13-20 in 5 point games since arriving in Wichita. In fairness, 7 of those losses occurred in the first year.

You have to consider how long JT had been on the floor for at that time and what he was doing on the defensive end of the court. Marshall probably wanted to limit his minutes with the foot injury. Besides, Garrett was playing pretty well last night.

Regarding the offense/defense substitution, would you have Blair (62%) and Ellis (57%) shooting free throws rather than JT (72%) and Garrett (78%)? Would you have JT and Garrett, who was in foul trouble, play defense rather than the quicker big men Ellis and Blair?

How do you coach Hatch not to throw the ball to the other team when the center isn't open and he throws it anyway.

How do you coach DW not to turn the ball over for a lay-up and then run down to the other end of the court for another turnover.

How do you coach JR to remember that even when he isn't guarded, you still have to get over midcourt in ten seconds.

How do you coach the team to 5-12 free throws in the first overtime.

Tell me how to coach this stuff?

These guys last night could barely execute putting on their uniforms.

So what exactly are the coach's responsibilities again? Have you addressed any of the other questions asked about the coaching in this thread?
