Marshall needs to man up and take some responsibility for not putting ISU away sooner.

    Observations:
    1) Starting lineup was a nice change, good job HCGM
    2) But then went back to 4 of the 5 original starters where offense was sluggish, not once but twice. Why?
    3) Why were Kyles and Williams on the bench most if not all of the OT's?
    4) Most importantly, listen up HCGM, the whole Valley has the playbook of driving the lane with astonishing success. Better find the solution for that now or we won't be winning the Valley league or the tournament! I've never seen a Shocker weakness exploited as badly as this before.
    5) We are ten deep and the fast breaking needs to happen for frequently.

I wanted Williams back in more in the 2nd half. I got my wish only to see him lose his man 2 or 3 times in a row. That is why he wasn't out there in the OT's IMHO. Kyles...I don't know why.

Oh but I agree that he substituted the starters out too soon. I thought we came out with quite a bit intensity only to have it diminish once he subbed those guys out.

This and the fact that our motion offense is currently getting us very few open shots.

The starters were also giving up a ton of points.

We put the "bench" in and they weren't scoring, but neither was ISU.

We brought the starters back and ISU started scoring again.

actually we lost our lead early with the "bench" in. So I wouldn't say that is entirely accurate.

              1) Starting lineup was welcome.
              2) This team is a puzzle for sure. The same combinations never end up with the same results.
              3) I think he was afraid to make changes. Playing toe to toe was better than a 1.5 minute lapse.
4)Agreed. Tired of seeing our lane treated like I-35.
              5) Agreed again. Use the depth by pushing and pushing and pushing.
              6) Why don't we shoot the passing lanes more? We are supposed to be long and fast but passes are always just out of our reach when on defense.

I'm not sure about Williams, but Kyles couldn't have made a layup tonight. Marshall likes to ride the hot hand and it wasn't Kyles tonight.

I think we don't play the passing lanes more because we already get burned alot by opponents driving on us. Yes it may create a few more steals, but it can also lead to alot of easy baskets given up if you overplay them. I am sick of teams driving on us as well. That is why this team scared me because that is what they have been doing to teams they have beaten.

It was 13 to 10 when the starting squad subbed out. It was 15 to 15 when they started coming back in. It was then even up for the remainder of the first half no matter who was in until about 3:00(?) to go when we started lighting them up.

Which lead? The 19-15 lead? The play-by-play is full of Blair, Stutz, Williams, and Kyles as the game goes from 19-15 to 19-26.

It wasn't a pure layup, but he did score on a drive, was fouled and made the and-1...that's a 3 isn't it? :D

I think the reason D-Will was on the bench was becuase he was starting to get out of control.

He had a turnover following a nice steal at the 1:25 mark of regulation and then followed with an even more out of control turnover fumbling the ball out of bounds on a drive at the 1:16 mark.

Not sure about DK. Granted he had a poor shooting game, but no one (other than Ben) could hit a trey. I think it was probably something other than his shooting.

Coach Dollar said DK had defensive issues as well as the poor shooting, and just wasn't into the game.
