That's what separates great crowds from good crowds. Any crowd will cheer when their team does something great.
A great crowd is one that can cheer when things aren't going so well, so that they can have an affect on the game. A great crowd can fire up the home team and give them that little extra mojo they need to win.

On one complimentary note, the dance routine by the dance squad was the best I have seen this year before the ISU game.
On another note, the National Anthem sounds best when sung by 1 singer that has a good voice, and not by a group. Recently, on TV, it showed the show that was presented in Washington, DC, the night before Kennedy went to Dallas and got shot, and Mahalia Jackson sang the National Anthem. Now, that is what I am talking about!!!!

From the Indiana St beat writer's blog:
• I’d be really surprised if my ears aren’t ringing on my long trek home tomorrow. There were several occasions where I couldn’t hear the person’s sitting next to me on the press table. I’ve said it a million times, but there’s no arena in the MVC that gets louder than Koch Arena.

Originally posted by XManComethThe problem with the "electricity" at the Chuck isn't the student section. They do their job and they do it quite well.
The student section has gotten a little better, but they don't have the numbers(and need the geezers to bring the house down) and don't seem very creative this year.
In fact last year I thought they were better especially with the "These Ref Suck" chant. When the crowd joined in and was then threatened with a Technical - changed the game. Literally you saw how the crowd can impact the refs and it was started by the student section.
Here is my real issue - the cheerleaders should be the LEADERS of the CHEER for the whole building. But this group has no clue. They are just there to do their gymnist stuff and weakly throw the balls to the 3rd row.
If you want to get the place rocking you have to start with the lower bowl, once you get them up, then it will be a domino effect. That is why FSU NIT game was so good - the average fan got down low and stood up the whole game and thus everybody else.
But another point - the team really needs to help out at times, when the crowd does get on its feet to try and give more energy, you got to make that stop, you got to get that score.
