  • No electricity at the Chuck?

I have been a season ticket holder for many many years. This morning I woke up thinking that the game atmosphere just isn't that electric anymore?

We have a fantastic team....tons of talent and the place just doesn't seem to rock like it used to. The halftime entertainment is disappointing, the student section marginal at best, the band seems to be a hodge podge of volunteers that have a habit of playing the wrong music at the wrong times.

I like Iron Wu for the introduction but the player intro is doesn't do anything to get me fired up. Last year, when they would play the player intro with the history of WSU basketball with X, cliff, antoine etc...I would literally get goose bumps. The first couple of times I watched it my eyes would burn a little bit.

I'm not trying to nit pick but I'm trying to figure out if it's just me this season or if Koch has lost it's electricity? I also remember, even during the lean years, when the weather was terrible it was still a packed house. If it's not just me, it's a shame our Seniors have to endure such a weak atmosphere their last year.

I've only been a season ticket holder for about 8 years. I think it's gone downhill in that amount of time. As a matter of fact, I said something about it to my wife at the game last night. She slugged me for being too loud. Then the guy behind me told me to sit down. No joke.

I bought my first tickets in 1979 when Antoinne signed his LOI. I don't think it's any different this year. There are games where it is electric, some not so much. Much of it depends on how the game is being played. I also believe that fans feel pressure just like players do. Sometimes when we are struggling in close games with teams we feel we should handle easily it becomes more work for the fans than pleasure. It's not as much fun. Especially so this year when expectations were/are so high.

The UNI play by play guy said on KGSO that we have the best atomosphere in the Valley. I have heard national commentors speak highly of Koch Arena and the fans. I think it's still one of the best atmospheres around.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

Blowing out cupcakes and losing conference games doesn't do a lot for "electricity".

I think we still have the best atmosphere in the Valley.

          +1 on both accounts.

It's hard to build an electric atmosphere when we've been down early in our big games at home and blowing out the cupcakes early in our meaningless games at home.

In the first half when the visiting team is shooting free throws, is it to much to ask for everyone to atleast wave there arms? I mean they don't even have to stand up, but wave your arms atleast?

It seems like everyone will stand up and clap during a timeout, and then as soon as the game starts everyone sits down. Get loud when the game is going, not when there in a huddle on the sideline.

I hate sitting anywhere but the student section because it seems like there is always someone who gets pissed when you stand up in front of them to cheer and yell.

The Missouri St Sunday night game was as loud as any crowd in the country. Watch other games objectively on ESPN and you will see that in terms of rears in seats and noise we do very well.

My hunch is that Saturday night's game will seem a little more electric than most this year. It's a big deal and everyone knows it. The weather Wednesday really did a number on the crowd. Count on some noise this week. But I do agree at times the electricity just isn't there like we would hope.

Travel down to norman oklahoma for an OU game. That is a crowd with no electricity. They have a student section of... 8. Everyone else utilizes the time as quality quiet family time. We should be thankful for the atmosphere we are able to bask in every time we watch the boys play.

The game wednesday was a big game especially when we found out msu lost. but the crowd was not there. and im not even talking about it numbers. some of the best crowds i have seen were when the weather was bad and not many was there ex the blizzard a couple thanksgivings ago against either lsu or uab. the crowd as a whole acted like it was putting them out to get them up and stand. I want a crowd that refuses to sit down when the other teams scores on their first possession. It has been done before.

It won't happen. There are way too many people there that don't want to stand for the whole game.

The student section can't even pack in when school is in session. I was quite disappointed in the showing Wednesday night. If you can't even fill the student section there isn't much hope as everything feeds off of them.

The crowd gets loud when it needs to.

Ice and snow are completely different things and ice was the problem Wednesday night. When the game started, the arena was barely half full. I've travel 120 miles to games in heavy snow with no problem and I'll do it again; however only idiots travel on 1/4" of ice. Maybe it wasn't a big problem in the Wichita city limits; however I'm telling you it was a major issue for anyone living north, west and south of Wichita. I'm willing to give the fans a mulligan for Wednesday night. Oh, and we do have our fare share of elderly fans... and many of them stayed home.

There were twice as many fans there wednesday night as there was the blizzard a couple years back but not half the noise as that crowd. has nothing to do with amount of people. I understand people staying home. i dont understand people coming and just wanting to sit quietly. especially in a back in forth game where both teams are scoring at will.

Depends [no pun intended] on where you draw the line as "elderly". I was there Wednesday, ice and all.
