Drake vs. WSU game thread

I want to highlight this again, because a lot of people seem to be missing it.

Ben Smith has MORE MINUTES than Graham Hatch in the last three games.

We can now all stop requesting that Ben Smith get more minutes than Graham Hatch. Coach knows what's up and is making the necessary adjustments in the game.

The Drake fans say it’s coaching and it could be; however I didn’t see any problems with his X’s and 0’s last night.

Rice was scoring at will early in the 2nd, I kept thinking back to Lynrick Rogers, then poof he was gone. At that point, I knew DuBulldog and McBullshat were probably throwing items at their radios, or orchastrating a plan to put Phelps' house on the market.

Mr. Rice is a specimen and he abused Hatch. However, he didn't strike me as a team player, and he knows nothing about the game. It's all talent.

He also needs to get some thicker skin. He didn't seem to appreciate the heckling from the student section. He started talking back to the students while he was sitting on the bench during the game. And he had a few choice words for the students when he was walking towards the tunnel after the game. I don't think he realized that talking back just fueled the heckling. He is just a freshman though and has a lot to learn.

He seems like a quieter version of the former Bjay that possessed an attitude problem. I hope that doesn't continue, he's a real talent and the league needs more players of his caliber.

When you've got a guy averaging over 50% of his 3's, I'd think you'd WANT that player shooting them.

So Kyles missed a few and maybe dropped his average all the way to 48%.

48% of 3 > 50% of 2.

Why is Kyles supposed to stop jacking up 3's?

If he was Reggie Chamberlain talent, yea, jack up the 3's. If we think Kyles will realistically shoot 50% from 3 all year, there is some real estate...well you know the story. Come on, you're telling me that a guy with Kyles talent should be jacking up all those 3's. He is a better player than that. Look at the overall picture, don't get tunnel vision.

Kyles CAN shoot 50% from 3-pt land ALL YEAR if he is selective in the shots he takes. What will drive his percentage down is when he is forced to shoot at the end of the shot clock OR when he doesn't give himself enough space between he and the defender. He has shown he can shoot off a fake,off a screen and also catch-and-shoot. He also has the athletic ability to go straight up off the running dribble. But he'll make more catch and shoot and off the ball fake than in other circumstances.

I actually like this post, but don't count on him shooting 50%. His 60%+ earlier in the season was just good fortune...and I will leave it at that (he is currently around 45%). What you did hit on the head is his shot selection. He does take too many shots off balance or too far out, etc...he's a great catch & shoot player. But go to the hole DK...please.

This is a quote off wu_shizzle's profile. John Wooden might as well have put David Kyles name in the quote and I have said it 100 times, just not as elequent as Mr. Wooden.

Kyles is inconsistent because he thinks he is a 3-point king. There is no way 70% of his shots should come beyond the arc. He is underselling his ability if he continues & it will hurt the team.

The band was good last night! Jeopardy theme was classic during the review. Loved the drum solo before the game and wish they would let that particular drummer go nuts at half time!

Rice is an immature freshman. But that hacking stuff and trying to hurt people is punk. He should have got an intentional foul when he hacked Murry on that layup attempt (6:35 of second half).
