    Yep.

    • [quote="wufan]I really like the way Ellis is playing this year. He's still the screener/defender, but he is using his athleticism to be agressive in spots. He doesn't need to score 10 a game, but it's great to see him shoot it 5 times and make 50%.quote]

How do you make 50% of 5 field goals. :D

Besides Ellis made 3-4, which I think is 75%. :)

But you're correct, Ellis has surpassed expectations this year.

      • tbh I expected Drake to stick around with us for a while.

Not surprised when I checked my phone after my game and saw we were only up by 4 at half.

Ok, you had me at hello, but Ellis as Defensive P-O-Y. I certainly have warmed up to him and totally agree with you about earning the minutes he is getting. However, you can't be serious about Defensive P-O-Y. He plays 19 minutes a game, averages a little over 4 rebounds per game, averages 0.5 blocks per game and has only 2 steals on the season. Yes, he plays very good defense on players he can use his quickness and size over, but he can't effectively guard a true 4 or 5 man with bulk and size.

He's not even the best defensive player on the team IMO.

          • I've read a lot about starting line ups. the post game show seemed consumed with discussing minutes for various players. A lot of people need to chill. This team is deep. Even during an atrocious 15 minutes, the outcome wasn't in doubt. Perhaps the coaching staff wanted various line ups to work through issues. I don't know but it seems minutes played are the deal.
I am glad that we are cashing in the start rather than the finish. But I hope there isn't a pattern forming where too deep of a hole is dug. The stripes also did their best at disrupting game rhythm & preventing either team of making a run. Valley crews are always good at that, especially to end the 1st half &to start the 2nd.

The replay showed that Durley turned his shoulder into the player, so it ended up being a good called. Of course in real time, it looked like a charge.
His feet were planted before the player got to the free throw line. His upper body may have moved but he was set as set can get.

              God awful call.

But the outcome was great. A ticked off Durley was a great sight. He was hell bent to prove himself and he did! I think WSU found a new pre-game drill.

Kyles had another outstanding defensive game. I am more and more impressed with his defense as the games mount. Tonight he guarded Wedel quite a bit, helping to hold him to just 3 points on 3 shots.

But Kyles plays 26 minutes and scores just 6 points on 10 shots...ZERO FT's...and let me guess, 7 of his FG attempts were 3's. That's 70%, which is about his season average. That's too many. He settles for the 3 way too much for my liking. He lives and dies by the 3. His early season success from beyond the arc might actually be his down fall at the end of the day. I hope not, but he keeps chucking the trey...BUT WHAT A DEFENDER HE IS TURNING OUT TO BE.

                    • If you had told me before the game that Drake would have one of their better shooting games and that Toure, David, Graham and Joe would be a combined 6-28 from the field and then gave me Drake and 19 points.......

or if you bet me the Shocks would break 80 points for the game as we were sitting on 15 points 14 minutes into the 1st half and shooting about 21% from field unable to finish in close or hit anything from the perimerter......

well, I'd probably be homeless about now.

Love the production we are getting from the bench. Garrett, Demetric, Ben and Gabe go 12-20 plus a 3-4 effort from Aaron. Very happy to see D-Will getting back on track. He brought great energy and confidence to the floor tonight.

Sign of a good team to be able to win going away when their core starters are having an off night.

                      :good: :goshocks:

                      • When you've got a guy averaging over 50% of his 3's, I'd think you'd WANT that player shooting them.

So Kyles missed a few and maybe dropped his average all the way to 48%.

                        48% of 3 > 50% of 2.

Why is Kyles supposed to stop jacking up 3's?
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

                        • The quality depth of this team is amazing. They need to keep playing up tempo and that should win a lot of games this season.

Second game in a row where nowhere near the "A" game results in a lopsided win.

The officials were seriously overmatched tonight. I thought they were kind of equally bad, but they destroyed the game earlier.

Mr. Rice is a specimen and he abused Hatch. However, he didn't strike me as a team player, and he knows nothing about the game. It's all talent.

I'll be STUNNED if he stays 4 years. Hell, I'll be stunned if he's there as a Jr.

I can't believe how bad we were in the first half. I'll bet Drake had 11 turnovers and we had 2 points off those 11 turnovers. Simply awful.

The call on JT.....it was a block. I know everyone was upset but it was one of the calls the guys got right tonight.

Drake fans seemed pretty pleased they only lost by 19.

But seriously now, did anyone ever figure out wtf the refs were looking at when they stopped the game for a few days with 2 minutes to go in the first half?

Rice hit Demetric with an elbow above the numbers, checking to make sure it wasn't intentional.

                              • There's 3 of them. Any reason why one of them cannot give a brief explanation to the announcer, without mentioning names, or player's numbers?
