Seriously though, I'm not looking forward to seeing the UNI game with Dukey Vitale. I mean sure, I guess it's pretty big to get that kind of a "name" in your arena. But don't think for a second he won't spend 98% of the broadcast somehow bringing up Duke, other ACC teams or even KU (especially given the game against UNI in the tourney last year). I'm honestly glad he won't be in Wichita.
Actually, I read somewhere it was subject to change about him being at UNI... hopefully ESPN will pull their heads out and send DV to one of the best atmosphere's in the country.
You also have to understand that he is catering to the masses when he goes off on Duke, the ACC or other East Coast BCS programs. Face it, from a national standpoint people are going to be more interested in big-time BCS programs than small mid-major programs in the midwest. It's all about tv and ratings. The heavily populated and basketball saturated east coast programs want and expect to hear ESPN personalities glossing their programs. It's what sells and keeps the Nielson ratings up.
Sure we would all love more national exposure, but until the Shox pull a Gonzaga and start to consistently win and make NCAA tourney appearances we will never get a crumb of the lion's share of national pub.
Mids are like the flavor of the week. Look at Butler this year. They were media darlings the past two to three years and now you barely hear of them. They are not very good this year and since they are a Mid, they have been dropped like a bad habit. Gonzaga is on the verge but they have been successful for the past decade so their fall from fame will take a little more time.
Here's to Dickie coming to the Koch - cheers!

I do hope we get some decent announcers that at least do a LITTLE homework and get facts right. That is one of my biggest pet peeves when announcers can't get simple stats/names/etc correct. Avoid those kind of lazy commentators and I will be happy enough."He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!

Subtract this win and VCU is also in the NIT. This win may have been the tipping point for getting VCU into the Big Dance.
Doesn't sound like an elimination game to me. :D
