  • Seating at IBA

I've been a Shox season Tix holder for 6 yrs to mens basketball. 2 year season tix holder to womens basketball, and 1 year season tix holder to volleyball. For the mens games I have 4 tix and sit 3rd row from the top in the Chuck. In a 10,000 seat facility...thats not bad. I'll take that any day of the week.

However the game at IBA against Tulsa I was placed on the very last row in the upper deck. That was dissappointing to say the least. WSU you really "dropped the ball" so to speak on this one. In the future what needs to be done is allow all season tix holders to call in and get tix to the IBA game a week ahead of the general public. But to just stick your season ticket holders in the rafters is wrong and unethical. Anyone else feel this way????? If this is the way its done next year...I simply stay home and watch it on TV. I would never have paid for the seats I got had I known where I was going to be.

I was not in the rafters, acutally on the first level but I would agree my seats were poor in comparison to Koch. I don't feel the season ticket holders were given a fair shake. I would have been happier not to have the tickets included and either bought better seats or not have gone.

Little need to start anoher thread so the post was a little annoying. I give a break on this since it's a new poster. Hopefully we will hear more from bhuber on other topics.

never understood the logic about not talking about something in multiple threads. threads get off on other topics and get bogged down with other random stuff. so he wanted to specifically talk about the seating. I dont have any problem with there being a thread about it.

Some people didn't even know about there bad seats until they got to IBA that night. I know season ticket holders who ended up on the very top row. At the very least they should of been front row of the upper level.

I think people have problems with it because we've been a part of boards that have 6 topics on the same things and it pushes other discussions off the first page too quick and some potentially good threads get lost. It helps keep the board clean if we can focus topics into one thread as much as possible. If this board ever gets as cluttered as others I've been on I know I'll come here less and less. I know many people hate weeding through a bunch of threads all about the same things to find relevant information/discussions.

I think it was Fever that pointed this out, but it mostly comes down to simple math. All 8-9,000 season ticket holders could not have possibly fit in the lower bowl, or even the first few rows of the upper deck.

Could the Athletic Dept. done a better job? Absolutely. But it was their first go around. Best advice: call the AD, and let him know. They should, at least, get a chance to rectify the situation.

I think an easy example to improve the seating would be to split up the corporate/multiple seats into separate packages. There's no reason that a company that holds 20 seats need to be all together.

Did we get a chance to opt-out? I think maybe we did.

                          I complained...

Then the day before the game I found two floor seats for 227 after fees. I paid up and sold the two upper corner seats I had.

Enjoyed it big time, however I can understand others discontent.

I think they should have 2 games a year there and offer those two as an separate package to season tickets. Put a more premium price on the seats and don't ask for donations. Let select a seat offer the two game package, then if somebody doesn't like what's actually available the can choose not to buy. Also when they get close enough to the game date they can sell individual game tickets instead of the package.

From a revenue maximization standpoint, WSU did the right thing. Rather than give all the best seats to season ticket holders mix them up and sell roughly an additional 50% capacity at multiple price points. Makes sense except for the SASO donation. Whatever WSU and the IRS say SASO is part of your ticket price. If you are making a 2,000 dollar SASO donation on top of your $260 retail ticket package that is roughly a $750 ticket package for two people.

Hope they get this figured out.

First off this does need a post-event thread now that people where able to experience the IBA screw job first hand.

AND NOW LET ME PUT TO REST THE DEFACTO "ROUND CIRCLE IN SQUARE PEG" B.S.

Case in point...me and family members have 4 tickets in row 29 at Koch while we were split up in upper deck corner sections at IBA - rows L and V (last freaking row). Being split up was bad enough but ending up at the very top row just isn't right for someone with season tickets dating back to MT's first season. BUT wait it gets better. A coworker decides at 4 PM on gameday he wants to go, calls down to the box office and lands $15 face value seats in a similar upper deck section in row P, which is obviously better than last row V seats.

For anyone that was there you could see the sections that were left open to the public (corner sections not end zone) like 224 and sections with season ticket holders squeezed to the rafters like 213 and 218. Or in other words there were much better seats left open to the public (some that sold last minute) compared to last row seats that were forced on season ticket holders. Honestly season ticket holders should not be forced to sit in the last 3 to 4 rows of IBA.

First time around that might serve to maximize revenue but is it right and will it work a second time?
