I think he's talking about the way the WSU broadcast, at some point, goes off the air EVERY single game. Its ridiculous and totally unprofessional. I don't know if the broadcasters don't know how to use the equipment, the engineer in the studio doesn't know what he's doing, or the equipment is terrible. All I know is we had better radio quality broadcasts in the 1960's than we do now. It can't be that difficult. Everyone else does it without dropping the broadcast during the game (or postgame).

Other than the sides being cut off the picture quality was fine on an older tube-type TV. Am I correct in guessing that those of you getting poor quality are watching on high-def flat panels?

And I think there may be the problem.

Cox is about 10 years behind everything.

The quality on Channel 12 where they are showing clips is decent (at least not half the screen clipped) - that tell me Rosewood is full of ##$#$ and the problem lies with Cox.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I watched the last game on COX22 on a high-def flat screen TV and the quality was awful. I watched tonight's game on my old 19" tube TV and the quality was fine, not great but fine (except for the sides being cut off).

I think he's talking about the production quality. I've lost count of how many times during the post game that the broadcast is interrupted by some other program bleeding through or sometimes just silence. I don't listen to the game (at least when it's on TV) on the radio, but does it happen during the game too?

Kennedy is the best in the biz. We're very, very fortunate to have him and I doubt Kochhead is talking about him.
You are correct sir. I love MK and DD. That is why i get so pissed that they cant help them out with a decent production.

Guess I have never really noticed too many problems with it.
I prefer to listen to the radio more than watch it sometimes.

I think the chopped off sides of the feed and the poor resolution could be connected.

It looks to me like the image is being digitally zoomed in, so instead of seeing the full image in it's native resolution, it's like watching TV zoomed in or using digital zoom on your camera after you take the shot.

                      Here's a visual:

                      Original Shot

                      10x Optical Zoom

                      10x Digital Zoom

Just a hunch, somebody on the production team needs to turn off the digital zoom. Of course the level of detail the newer and larger TV's provide will only exaggerate the problem.

The standard def TV is fine - with the exception of some of the picture being cut off. They most likely sent the signal out 16:9 standard def and the 4:3 TV's will have some cut-off.

Nope, my 16:9 shows the cutoff signal too.

There are plenty of SD-only basketball games out there that are completely fine on my flat panel. The same Metro Sports produced FSN games are good examples of this. They are SD-produced and I have no problems with them.

Cox is simply fudging it up somewhere along the line.

Cox is worthless, that why I dropped them and went to Direct TV. And I just go to a sport bar or someone house to watch the shocker game.
