  • The team needs Mr. Ragland to play more minute well. The offense has looked in sync the last few games when he plays. The remaining question mark is defense.

The team wins the game going away if TM plays under control. He is so much better than he showed last night.

David Kyles needs more quality looks. Not sure what needs to change for that to happen. He was phenomenal on multiple fronts - he quickly feeds the post when the ball is reversed to him. He got some tough rebounds, and at times he made it really tough on LSU.

Does anybody know why Ben's minutes were limited?

I also want to touch on something that honestly I'm surprised hasn't been discussed more in this thread....Marshall's emotional post game interview. Why exactly do you think he was crying? And did it surprise you?
Stutz at this point doesn't have the ability to play like he did last night every game. His success is clearly related to his matchup. When Garrett Green was in the game for LSU our Garrett has a chance because Green is not overly athletic. Stutz has no chance against a big, athletic post.

      • The difference between Stutz last night and Stutz the first quarter of the season is that he MADE his shots. He makes his bunnies, hits a three, and he's a double figure scorer in a short period of time. Miss the bunnies, and go 2-6, and everyone hates you.

Murry was definately looking to drive last night. Now he needs to finish. Too often he throws up an off balance shot at the first signe of contact. If the contact doesn't get called he looks like a fool. Otherwise, I am happy with his game. Someone mentioned before that TM was not a SG and PG was his best position. I'm going to say that I still think he is ideally a SF and that is where he will start next year.

Kyles played the way I expect him to play for most of the year. Not super man like he was in the first 6 or so games, and not the 5 ppg sophomore of last year. He will be inconsistent with some poor shots at times, but 3 for 8 from three is more than acceptable. He needs to drive more.

Very happy with our senior PFs last night. Good all around game from those three.

Hatch also had a very good game minus some of his threes. I think they were rather questionable based on distance and time remaining in the shot clock.

Not sure what was up with Smith. I think Ben NEEDS to be our 9th guy (and I guess he was as he was 9th in minutes played with 2). Usually an 8 man rotation relys on 3 posts and 5 wings/guards. We are running 4 posts and 4 guards. I don't want Hatch, Kyles, and Murry all getting 35 minutes per game.

Good post. I agree on Murry, Kyles & Hatch. You mentioned only offense with Stutz. Again, he is situational player only at this point. He is too slow & methodical to play against big, athletic, quick post players. Last night was his type of matchup. He could guard Garrett Green & he could make low-post moves against him.

          • Yes, 'Garrett the Clutch Stutz" was 4-4 from the field and 3-4 on throws (how dare him miss a shot), with 12 points in 12 minutes. However, 4 fouls in 12 minutes is 'living on the edge' for his late game heroics. Could this be a sign of more magical Shocker moments that could follow this very Season? Stay tuned!!!

I just listened to the podcast. He was upbeat about the win but I don't know about emotional. I sure couldn't tell he was crying. I thought perhaps he had a little bit of a cold.

I think they were talking about his TV interview immediately after the game with Craig Steven. He was pretty emotional, but I don't think he was crying.

                    • Exciting win. I will certainly take it. GS really came through tonight. I hope this is just the beginning and GS keeps getting better.

Crying, choked up, whatever. My memory isn't the best, but that's the first time I recall seeing a Shocker basketball coach that emotional after a win.

Congressman Boehner doesn't count, he cries over everything. I have never seen a grown man cry so much.

You remember correctly. Vermiel was a crying fool. Coached some exciting football though.
