Sure but you have ragland, kyles, murry, and Williams at the guard spots returning.
True, with Smith playing the 3. But you lose all of them except Williams and Richardson and have zero other experience if you redshirt Wessel and Cotton. And we're not yet sure how much Richardson will contribute. You may be able to RS one of them, but I don't see how you could possibly do both.

They may not play a ton but one is going to play some for sure.

Inside next year we have (SR) Stutz, (JR) Ehimen, (JR) Hall, (SO) Hamilton so I could see the possibility of redshirting White. No guarantees though as it depends on what they feel Hamilton will bring.

I really think that 3 of those 4 will be starters (PG,SG, SF) next year. I wouldn't be surprised if the line-up is Ragland,Murry,Kyles, Hamilton?, Stutz.
I would guess Ragland, Murry, Kyles, Hall, Stutz.

That's four SRs and a JR. Off the bench you're looking at Williams (JR), Richardson ? (SO), Smith (SR), Wessel and Cotton (FR), Ehimen (JR), Hamilton (SO), White (FR).

I would be surprised if White was RS. I haven't seen alot of video on him, but what I saw and what I have read, he seems likely to be ready to go next year (as ready as a FR can be). He seems to be a lunch pale kind of grinder, with the ability to step out and make a perimeter shot.

I agree. I would expect White to play. Just that it seems more of a possibility based on depth/experience than redshirting the two perimeter players we have coming in.

Although I feel we could be equally as good next year, it appears our proven depth will be a question mark. Our PG position will be a huge strength with Rags, Williams & Murry all more than capable, with Cotton learning the trade. The 2G will also be a strength with Murry & Kyles there, with Wessel serving as the apprentice. The 3G will be Ben Smith's, with Kyles, Murry, Wessel & Richardson all able to fill the spot. I'm not so sold that Richardson will ever be a heavy minutes type of player; just a feeling.

The post will be dominated by Stutz & Orukpe...no worries there. At PF I feel Hall will be the guy, with White & Hamilton backing up. Like Richardson, I just get a funny feeling about the long-term impact of Hamilton. All we have heard about Hamilton is the athletic ability he possesses. Just watching him shoot doesn't give me good vibes about what he can bring outside the lane. My eye test (which doesn't mean much) just isn't impressed yet with Jerome.

I just don't see obvious candidates for RS next year. I believe our incoming players will be asked to hit the ground running and hopefully their learning curve is quick.

Cotton would get very few minutes

              Wessel a few more

White the most I would think

Getting a player 5 min a game is one thing but if the player is only going to get 40 min for the year...well that can be made up in 2 games the next season.

I don't see how cotton who appears to be an pg only gets the minutes next year to support forgoing a redshirt. Unless he beats out Williams or ragland.

Good point. In a pinch Wessel could also play the point. That would give Cotton a chance to play as a FR when Williams is a SR.

Actually HCGM calls Cotton a combo guard, but that really doesn't change anything. With Murry and Kyles at the SG and Rags and Williams at the PG, Cotton would not be likely to get much time at either position. I would consider him a very good RS candidate.
