Happy talk
Hey, KC, I'm not in the business of quantitative predictions myself, but Warren Nolan does a complete RPI / SOS prediction in addition to his simulation of where a team stands now.
As of the moment I'm typing this, he has WSU's schedule strength ranked 88th, and he predicts that it will end up 78th -- and that's not counting the BracketBuster game, which he doesn't include because the opponent is currently unknown. So if anything, he'd probably anticipate that WSU will rank even higher than 78th, because they'll almost certainly be getting one of the top possible Buster opponents.
Sorry for all the happy talk; I'm just trying to keep it real.

Valley is a 2 bid league, we're not one of the last 4 in, 1st round game in Tulsa against a program that we need to pay back. I'll take it.

www.cnnsi.com has a projected bracket by Glockner. I don't see a mention of WSU. Not in the bracket, not a last four our or last four in.
WSU is a tournament team ...PERIOD.
Look at underachieving teams such as that train wreck that is K-State, or even Michigan State. they are 6 loss teams that are still ranked & still projected because they are BcS schools who were ranked early.
WSU should have beat Missouri St. But that wasn't really a bad loss. I guess winning will take care of itself, but I see a screw job coming. After that, I worry about the consequences to the program. I couldn't blame Marshall for taking another opportunity where he wasn't facing an uphill battle every year.Phi Alpha

All this speculating and hand wringing is pointless until we get past the next couple weeks. Too much basketball left to be played for everyone. Let's see if the Shockers can keep winning and they'll start getting attention again. We must win these next two games first.

If a top 100 win is all we need to push us over the edge then we're in! We'll have at least 2 (UNIx2) and I think a third and fourth (MSU, bbusters) are a good possibility.
But like I've been saying all year we don't have to worry about at large. This is our year to win Arch Madness. We need to be more worried about racking up wins to improve our seeding.
Now MSU on the other hand...even if they end up 17-1 in league, win their bracketbusters, and make it to Sunday in St. Louis they'll still have to sweat out selection sunday.

RPI:
MSU: 20
WSU: 41
Top 100 RPI Wins:
MSU: 7
WSU: 0
Top 50 RPI Wins:
MSU: 3
WSU: 0
Record vs. RPI Top 100
MSU: 7-6
WSU: 0-3
Tell me again why WSU is getting the shaft to be ranked behind a team like MSU? If WSU "deserves" to be in, then MSU "deserves" to be in even more.

Michigan State is fortunate not to have four more losses. Two wins in overtime at home, a three point win at lowly Northwestern and a one point home win vs. power house Oakland. Only one true away game at Duke. All the rest at home or neutral court outside of conference play...I believe six home games and one away and five on a neutral court. Also, an 8 point win vs. Chaminade.
Overrated....you bet. They've played eight ranked opponents and beat three. The three wins, Washington on a neutral court and Minnesota and Wisconsin at home.
I'll bet if we played the same schedule we would have the same results at worst. Again, they are lucky they aren't 8 - 10 right now with a win over Chaminade.

Finally, I want to point out that you weren't really fair with some of your statements... definitely misleading.
"Lowly Northwestern"
"Powerhouse Oakland"
"Only one true away game at Duke. All the rest at home or neutral court outside of conference play"
The fact is that Michigan State has proven themselves through beating good teams. They have their faults, but no one is claiming they should be #1 in the country. I'm just saying that there is no comparison between their resume and WSU's. As of right now, they win easily.
