The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

Real Time has the Shockers rpi at #17 today and Warren Nolan has it at #15. UCONN is #1 in both.

If we can keep our rpi good, those who vote in the polls will start paying more attention to us.

I'm not so sure. We have a good showing in Maui, nearly beating a team that leapt from almost no votes to top 10 and we lose votes.

Those idiot voters aren't paying attention.

Royal- That is true. But our rpi was still around #50 after we left Hawaii. It just started to jump a few days ago.

If those voters know anything it's that the RPI is virtually meaningless until conference games get going.

Royal you are right about the validity of the numbers themselves. But it is something that gets us more national attention.

A couple of years ago, I had a pretty long conversation with a guy who votes in the AP poll. I asked him how he follows all of the teams around the country and he told me that he didn't follow all 300 teams, he uses the rpi (and the polls themselves) to determine who to follow closely.

He didn't use the rpi to determine who to vote for but just to see who he should pay close attention to.

That is why I am saying it should help us with the pollsters (I think if we had been in more pre-season top 25 polls it would have helped also).

It just helps to get us on their radar screens.

Wichita State has 2 points in this weeks Coaches' Poll. I figured maybe it was last weeks, so I checked USA Today (updated 41 minutes ago) and ESPN, both have us at 2 points. FWIW, Ben Jacobson and SDSU's coach have a ballot.

After the 2nd half melt down by the team we shouldn't get any votes.

                    • #56 in RPI (1 behind Evansville) and interestingly, they predict a 15-3 conference slate, good for THIRD, behind 16-2 UNI and 17-1 MSU. Those are the only 3 projected to have a winning record as of today.

I agree completely, but I'm definitely not going to complain about it. If we can stay in the "receiving votes" category the whole year I think it could easily help exposure and it shows at least someone out there is still thinking about us as a Top 25 team.

I'm with you there. Just shocked anyone would give us a vote right now. 2nd half was embarassing

                          • Perspective is amazing. I do not think the shockers have earned top 25 votes, but I haven't seen anything that proves they are not in the mix.

Obviously worthless except to give their fans a little hope.
