Maybe Texas would let us join their league for baseball.

I's love to leave that without any type of comment just to see if anybody thought I was actually suggesting that could ever - ever - EVER happen.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

I enjoyed it too, but he totally left off JT Durley, who has as much potential as Toure to make a big impact on the league.
+1 on Durley. BTW, when did Ahelegbe transfer? ;)

No, but that and football gives the AD something go after.

Noticed that as well.....All I know is I cannot WAIT until that mouthy little bastard gets sent into the non SASO seats by EO the first time he attempts to bulldoze his way to the hoop.

I would also accept Bradley and/or Ill St.

This is the conference that the AD's should be attempting to put together!!!

It is regionally sound and Basketball heavy.

Yea, I'd rather see Bradley or Illinois State, rather than ORU as the 10th member. But either, way what are they waiting for?

The fact of the matter though is that there are really only two schools in the MVC on solid financial ground, WSU and Creighton. (Bradley would probably be next in the order, although they are looking into moving some basketball games into a smaller arena to save money). For the MVC to be successful, it needs the top programs and programs with the largest fanbases to be at the top. The MVC tourney is best attended when Creighton, WSU, SIU, MSU and Bradley are strong (even though SIU & MSU are not on the most firm footing financially, they do have large fanbases). When Drake, UNI, ISU, etc are at the top, attendance figures at the tourney are way, way down.

It may be time to expel some teams from the conference in order to put the conference on a more firm financial footing. The starting spot may be the Indiana teams. Replace them with schools on good financial footing that are in decent sized metro areas that may lure better TV coverage packages.
Totally agree that the conference is better when the perceived heavy hitters are better. Remembering back to 2006; SIU, Creighton, WSU and Bradley beat up on the bottom feeders of the league. Do you really think that Northwestern is a tougher out than Indiana State in their own gym?

Add ORU to make it an even 10 team league
I haven't followed college baseball much in the last few years, but how many of those schools have baseball programs? And how many of them are any good? I know the Valley isn't great, but would WSU baseball players, fans, and coaches jump at this opportunity like I'm sure the basketball folks would?
Maybe WSU could get a "for baseball only" invite to be the 12th team in the Sun Belt since Denver doesn't play. That'd have to be a big upgrade from Valley ball and better locations to travel.

                    :D

I barb with DJA a lot but he is right on this one. The best attending and most financially stable schools are the biggest benefit to the league when they are the ones who are on top. Is it a coincidence that Drake and Northern Iowa have won the league the last 3 years and it was those last 3 years where we have sunk to one-bid status?
