  • Any news on Ellis?

Perry always appears wide open when talking about a college destination although KU fans think otherwise.

If he ever chose WSU I'm sure the KU fans would attempt to go on another witch hunt to find a way to punish them.

It's good to see WSU on his list - and not listed as one of the schools that "keep bugging me". With all the attention Ellis is getting, I don't think being described as "bugging me" is a good thing.

I still think his landing at WSU is a long shot. Actually 1 in 8 if the list of schools is accurate and they're all about equal. I also think that Marshall is taking the right approach if WSU is to have a chance.

On a completely different note, a firend of mine has been following Ellis since he was in grade school. He says he was friends of Perry's parents at the time. My friend was following him for his potential TRACK career. I don't know if he still participates in track, but it's been reported by a source I trust that he was pretty much untouchable in the sprint events all the way through Jr. Hi.

Everything I run into about Perry points to a good kid, a good family, and someone who makes good choices to reach his goals. If you put Antoine Carr on one end of a scale and Korleone Young on the other end of the same scale, I think you'd find Perry standing real close to Antoine.

With that in mind, you've got to wish Mr. Ellis the best and hope for his success wherever he chooses to go to school. He's not even 18 yet and I think he already deserves the "Mr."
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

At least we're still being mentioned. This is a good thing. The one thing we have (other than it being local) going for us that may just make a difference is HCGM's recruiting ability. I truly believe he's head and shoulders above most--including coaches at schools that rely a lot more on name recognition.

          Keep your fingers crossed!

From what I have seen of him, I have to agree. You never know how notoriety at a young age will affect people, but I have been really impressed by the way he has handled himself, especially his commitment to academics.

I personally think that the only way we stand a chance to obtain Ellis is for GM to land a top recruit, this year, to play along beside him for a couple of years. Ala Antoine and Clint.

I wonder how good of friends him and Evan Wessel are?

Playing with a 7' shot-blocking, rebounding post player who relies on teammates for offense is close to that.

The adjustment to playing D1 defense seems more difficult than playing D1 offense. If Ellis plays at WSU, he's going to have a goalie backing him up on D and be expected to create and score when the Shox have the ball.

Ellis might have more offensive freedom and flexibility at WSU than some of the other schools he's looking at.

If Perry were to sign today, I would speculate that KU would win out. However, if we really do land somewhere in the top 25 next Season, that might help our cause. I will never underestimate the recruiting skills of Coach Marshall. With or without Perry, we will be very solid in the forseeable future. Maybe he will meet another awesome player at a camp that we can offer a ship to both. Not every School can or will do that.

If Ellis were to sign with WSU, KU would not only refuse to play the Shox in the regular season, but wouldn't they also forfeit any NCAA Tournament game which paired the two up?

I feel like Perry will go to Kentucky (if Paypal Cal is still coaching) over any Kansas school. That being said I would love to see a hometown kid like him playing at WSU.
