14th ranked PF in his class?

That's not the ranking of a one-and-done player. That's not the ranking of a player who leaves early for the NBA. That's below the level KU normally recruits. That's not even a top-50 player in his HS class.

So far the hype has indicated Ellis was in the top 15 or so in his HS class and a potential #1 in his class.

If the 14th PF in his class is accurate, Perry isn't a Burger Boy - by quite a ways.

I'm pretty surprised by that ranking.
The 2012 class is stacked with bigs. Perry is the 46th overall ranked player. There are 6 PF in the top 15. And KU already has a verbal from the 19th PF / 70th overall in the 2012 class. http://scouthoops.scout.com/a.z?s=75...pid=88&yr=2012
Plus, Perry is a bit of a tweener between SF and PF, so that might hurt his position ranking as well.

According to Rivals he is the 26th player in the class. This is a huge class for the F/C position. In the article below he doesn't even mention us as a school he knows. He mentions OU, KU, and KSU. Is there a reason that he doesn't mention us at all? It sounds like it is between those 3 schools. They do give a lot of props to the Andover YMCA.

Also, his AAU coach compares his shooting to that of Ray Allen. Whoa may want to slow down.

The article was written by Robert Cassidy of GoPowercat.com. For us not to be mentioned wouldn't surprise me.

As for the large PF class in 2012, this could work in our favor. Those BCS schools that are after his services have a lot to choose from. Also important may be who in the 2011 class these particular schools have in front of him. I'm not saying he's afraid of competition, but having a Burger Boy or 4 star HS player in the 2011 class or his own class at his postions could jeopardize his playing time and exposure.

Rivals only publishes the names of schools who funnel money to them, those under their umbrella. So even if WSU is the leading candidate for Ellis' services, they probably won't list it as a possibility.

I wonder how many KU tickets Rivals was able to secure.

Ellis has been visiting a number of schools lately (KU and KSU).
Not much to see at WSU this time of year without football, but has anyone seen him around the WSU gym lately?

              Thanks/

I think Ellis is real good, but not quite at the Burger boy level. But, he is a player that could be regarded as a 'sleeper', who might really develop in College Ball. I do not think he is a one and done type player, and that he would benefit himself by playing College ball.

If Ellis wants his friends and family at all of his games, and to really develop a following, and become a home town hero, he will choose WSU. rather than just being another player at KU or KSU.

He has a chance to be a great player for the Shockers, and enjoy a status that might last a lifetime here.

I think he could be just "another" All America at KU, but KSU would put him on a high pedestal. However, not nearly as high as the legend he could become if he attended WSU. If he is going local, it will be between KU and WSU. I really don't think KSU has a chance.
                  Choices:
KU v KSU = KU (who really wants to play at Bramlage, or walk around that coyote nowhere campus?) OoD???
                  KSU v WSU = WSU
KU v WSU = Hard to beat KU, but what a legend he could become at WSU
(KU = AA status, playing in Big XII, playing in tournament every year, a lot of national hype, great campus life, close to home, high draft)
(WSU = AA status, playing in tournament most if not every year, a lot of national hype, playing at home, Playing again with EW, local legend, high draft)
(KSU = AA status, playing in tournament most if not every year, a lot of national hype, high draft)

If the Shox go deep in the NCAA this year, HCGM just might grow enough on PE, that he seriously considers WSU. X , AC, and CL all were drafted high out of WSU. Ellis is the kind of player that will go high regardless of where he plays. Being seen on ESPN or the highlight reels is not going to be an issue with him regardless of where he plays.

I don't think anyone would call Ellis a "sleeper." Remember, he was the #1 player in the nation as a freshman. As others have matured, he has slipped a little, but he is still in the top 5 to top 30 in the nation. Barring an injury, he is likely to be a HS All-American and has the potential to be a collegiate one as well. We'll see after that.

Perry is going to be a BIG time recruit no matter where he signs. KU, KSU, Duke, etc. If Perry is not the highest ranked recruit at the school he attends, then he will be a showcase piece in that schools #1-ranked recruiting class.

Now - Let's make WSU that #1 class!
