    I'll take a KU forfeit. . :D

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

I really don't think we have a chance in... I don't like the local angle either, it always sounds like we are desperate to me. I think he will go to a major powerhouse school like UK or KU. It sucks, but I think we ever really had a chance. Everyone is riding the chicken hawk bandwagon in this state and I'm sure they are saying don't waste your time at WSU.

Remember when we landed Maurice Evans. All it did was get us accused of cheating, AGAIN! Rumor has it that it was KU or OSU. They will not let us get one of their recruits! Sometimes I wonder if landing these kids in this era is more trouble than it's worth. An upset coach from a major powerhouse just has to say we are cheating and we are screwed. Even when we are found not guilty.

With that said, I wish the best for Perry Ellis and his future. From what I've read he seems like a great kid that wants an education as well as a basketball career. You can't do better that that.

The fact that he's still listing us, given the type of kid gives us a tiny chance at least. Tiny may be all it is though. If we don't get him, you can be sure it won't be for lack of trying.

Getting another (Evan W. is the other) City League player would be the start of an awesome trend. We've got to take care of our own backyard in terms of recruiting. The fact that Perry has been to numerous WSU games and knows our crowd and the kind of support also gives us a shot.

We'll be successful with or without him, but it would be very nice to land him.

After a bit of college, the guy has an excellent chance to be drafted in the 1st round of the NBA draft regardless of where he goes to school. Therefore, why not choose a place where his family/friends can watch him play and further establish himself as a Wichita legend.

Seems WSU and KU would be in the leaders in this race, and I wouldn't put anything past HCGM when it comes to motivation and getting kids wanting to play for WSU.

Of course Perry is going to have WSU on his list. He is simply being polite, respectful and politically correct. Had he not, I'm sure he would be given some kind of razzing. Thanks for the small bone Perry, I wish you well in your BCS decision.

Some success in the NCAA tourney this year will help our cause, but it's still a long shot at best.

I have heard that he needs to bulk up--hit the weights to be competitive at the D1 level. He'll need it to help his physical game.

He is just a soph and junior to be... I imagine he'll put on some weight soon enough.

Losers give up and don't try and Winners think enough of themselves that they do not assume they have no chance or that no recruit would want to come to their school. KC you really need to be a fan of another school. Why not try being a Jayhawker.

No one is giving up Ashockalypse, we just understand the reality of major college athletics. HCGM will try to get Ellis, but we all know that he will most likely go to a BCS peace of crap school. It is the way of things now days.

The last stud we had in this town went to play in front on a half full lloyd noble center at ou. What does that tell you about college sports in this day and age.

Let go of AC, Cliff and X! Those days are over for good!

PS...Butler doesn't have a perry ellis and they almost won it all.

im tired of the negative nancys of the world saying that we don't have a chance. we have a few things going for us... great location, great coaching staff, a loyal following, a top25 team heading into this year, and a system that ellis can run with -- we have as good of shot as anyone.

call x, antoinne, and cliff - get them here to tell perry that wichita state is a great place to play basketball.

Using Taj Gray as an example of a local player that got away is a weak basis for saying WSU can't get top recruits.

Randy Smithson wasn't known as a great recruiter, but he was able to sign a future NBA player. Turgeon admitted he was limited by his ability to recruit "at this level", but signed Paul Miller. Miller never played a game for the Knicks, but he did sign a contract with them. That's more than gray did. He got a look in a summer league, but never had a contract with any NBA team.

We had a string of coaches who were unable to sign local talent, non-local talent, or anywhere-on-the-planet talent.

The naysayers keep spouting - times have changed. Well, times have changed. We have a coach who's not afraid of competing for recruits, recruits players he wants on his team regardless of who else is recruiting them, and has the talent and track record to sign some players that previous staffs either couldn't or wouldn't approach.

Yep, the times have changed, but not necessarily to a doom and gloom scenario.

Butler may not have a Perry Ellis, but they had a player, who was drafted in the first round of the 2010 NBA draft.

I think we are a long shot to get Ellis, but I am not counting HCGM out.

For example, Hannah a 3rd string All American Juco came here, and now this year we have Joe Ragland, a 1st string All American Juco. That is a sign to me that he is going after and getting quality players.

The coach could very well surprise us.

A lot depends on whether Mr. Ellis wants to "go away" to college or if he is happy to stay near home for college. It's a personal choice we all had to make.

I believe Ragland was 2nd team as well.
