Yep, if we can maintain a top 20-30 program for about 5 years running we might have options. Otherwise........

Lets just say that actually happened, I would think Missouri St would start trying to figure out ways to go D1 and get into sunbelt or conf USA. If I was CU I would be begging the A-10, maybe try to be SLU's travel partner or something. Then maybe the league blows up.

Thanks to no football WSU would have to go find other non-football schools and get a league cracking.

I've looked around, it's not pretty to even try to think about. I've come up with about 6 schools. Notice I'm not including Evansville and reluctanly include Drake (mainly becuase the other non football schools are worse).

UMKC, UALR, UTA, ORU, WSU, Bradley, Drake, Corpis Cristi a&m......how bout that? a bunch of U of X at metro (Which as I'm insulting them, I guess Wichita is sorta like that) and small private schools.

would be nice to travel to CC and also UT-arlington games but man.........

Hopefully the world will end before this happens!

I don't know how the Valley could possibly suck more than it does now. When you have a conference head coach leave to be an assistant at a low to mid level Pac-10 school - you know, the one that should have had one bid last year - you can't get any lower.

Maybe ADES needs to reach out to the MWC with Utah moving to the Pac-12 and see if their is mutual interest? Sell them on the power of MBB and BB as well as our other sports and maybe make a pledge to bring football back by 2015? I believe MWC would be our best chance to move up on a long term basis. I would prefer forming a super BB conference with the likes of Creighton, Bradley, Marquette, Xavier, Butler, Gonzaga, etc and not have to deal with football however I just don't see that happening. Whatever we do we need to be looking at other options since Doug doesn't seem to keen on kicking some weaker teams to the curb.

If ISU red were to bolt, ADES and company best have a strong plan of action, because the MVC will drop significantly as an overall athletic conference. WSU and Ill St have established themselves as the backbone of overall athletics in the Valley. Losing one half of that really weakens things.

UNO is dropping out of D1 athletics. They were a non football member in the sunbelt. I think that would be good times. I think UALR would be closest team but if Denver can do it why not WSU? Also think of the baseball improvement.

I have no desire to go to the Sun Belt, it would be a step down imho.

Yes, cause that certainly helped KU when it was looking like the Big XII was about to implode.....oh wait.

It's a football driven world in college athletics. Just the way it is.

This discussion is out of control. No football-no bargaining power and many of you people are way out there in imagining the Valley to be way worse than other non big six conferences. Be careful what you wish for because we could easily be worse off than we are now and there may be no coming back from a fall. We have to bring football back ASAP to control our destiny but some of you need to get a grip. Have you seen any invitations from ANYONE!!!

Here's the simple overview of the inside of a Northern Iowa fan:

1.) They have accepted the Valley because they finally started winning some games in basketball a couple years ago.

2.) They are skewed a bit in their perceptions based on having Pop Warner football.

3.) Complaints about $15 basketball tickets in their "golden era of basketball."

4.) Their athletic security is in big financial jeopardy.

5.) A thread about Wichita State headlines their basketball forum.

That actually sounds like a pretty good plan. Getting into the MWC sounds like our best chance to avoid getting dropped to division 2 when everything breaks up.

The MWC is a nice thought, but it would seem to me that if they were to replace Utah there are more attractive options in the WAC (Utah St., Nevada, NMSU, Fresno St.). Of course, those schools may be content where they are.

I don't know how actual league, school presidents, and AD's are but the MWC board is all about football and football. They don't like any of the remaining WAC schools and really kinda want to hold tight in hopes the big 12-2 breaks up eventually.

Somebody mentioned houston and they ripped UofH apart.
