When I am bored, I sometimes visit Panther Nation. They did not fail to amuse me.

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

      ND

KC, Notre Dame plays basketball (and baseball, and some other sports) in the Big East, not the Big 10+2. They're really a Big East team who plays football as an independent; it's just that people don't realize their status and affiliation because their football has so much higher a profile than any of their other sports.

Thus, the situations aren't really comparable. ND isn't trying to play in one Conference A in all sports but one and in Conference B for that one other, which is what WSU would be doing by trying to play Big 12-2 baseball. Having said that, I'd love to see it, too -- but I think it's far more likely that the Big 12-2 will just play baseball with nine teams, as much as I hope I'm wrong about that.

The UNI day in the sun is going to be suffering an eclipse of Shocker Black in basketball next season ;-) .

Uh huh.......right. You know what? Not.

I was just thinking about this cartoon I once saw. A bunch of tiny fish are swimming through the leaves of the plant but then one of the fish realizes it's not a plant, it's the tentacles of a predator. And the fish says, "with friends like this, who needs anemones?"

You know, I have this nifty picture of a Jayhawk behind bars, and you know, I thought about posting it here. But it occurred to me that everyone is so used to seeing that sight that its impact has worn off.

Totally and completely hypothetical (and slightly ridiculous I admit) but it looks like Houston is poised to leave CUSA to go to the Big 12 (or at least that's what some Texas lawmakers want). If that happens, would WSU be better off going to CUSA (as a non-football school which is probably unlikely) than staying in the Valley?

Keeping in mind that Memphis may or may not go to the Big East as well, how does CUSA look as an alternative to the Valley?

Much, much better than the MVC. But then again, I think a lot of things are better than the MVC in its current state.

Sans Memphis, the top of C-USA looks comparable, if not a little better. The bottom (Rice, UCF, E. Carolina, SMU, Tulane), not so much. This is from purely a basketball standpoint.

Here is my viewpoint of conf usa vs mvc basketball:

Valley has recieved 1 bid 3 years in a row, can't get any worse. Besides baseball will imrove greatly.

I'm still guessing that sometime in the near future, 2 or 3 (including Memphis) from the eastern division get picked off by the Big East (if they lose some teams) or possibly the ACC.

As far as Rice, SMU, and Tulane, I think I'd take that trade over ISU blue, Evansville, and Drake.

I See over on valleytalk that ISU red is "rumored" to be looking at D1 football and the MAC.

Lets just say that actually happened, I would think Missouri St would start trying to figure out ways to go D1 and get into sunbelt or conf USA. If I was CU I would be begging the A-10, maybe try to be SLU's travel partner or something. Then maybe the league blows up.

Thanks to no football WSU would have to go find other non-football schools and get a league cracking.

I've looked around, it's not pretty to even try to think about. I've come up with about 6 schools. Notice I'm not including Evansville and reluctanly include Drake (mainly becuase the other non football schools are worse).

UMKC, UALR, UTA, ORU, WSU, Bradley, Drake, Corpis Cristi a&m......how bout that? a bunch of U of X at metro (Which as I'm insulting them, I guess Wichita is sorta like that) and small private schools.

would be nice to travel to CC and also UT-arlington games but man.........

Frankly, other than the men's basketball tourney, the Valley SUCKS.

                              Anything would be better.

Our hopes appear inextricably tied to the performance of our basketball team. If we get to the point over the next few seasons where we are getting to the dance and making lots of noise, a conference will be far more open to letting Wichita State in. Gonzaga would be welcome in many conferences, as would Butler.

Even if a miracle was to happen and WSU fielded a football team this fall, I'm not sure how well a one or two year old program would weigh in our favor if we were to shop around in a few.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.
