    That dude is amazing.....
    Yes, I believe he did.

Also, in an article devoted to bragging about how great CU is going to do using Qwest and making it a great atmosphere, here is the concluding statement by Director of Marketing Mike West:

For six years in a row, we taught every freshman our fight song. I wanted the students to sing our fight song at the beginning and end of every game. I was hoping it would grow. Now, I'm to the point where I just want them to clap! (laugh).

We have new some ideas for this year. The "white outs" that you started with us have become something the fans look forward to and now the "blue outs" and this year, your idea of starting a "checker board" game are nice traditions for our fans.

Overall, if you look at the size our school, our students do a great job of supporting the team and we hope to continue to work with them this season.
    To paraphrase:

We tried to start student traditions, but they won't even clap.

We had one marketing idea, so instead of coming up with new ideas, we'll just repeat that one.

I like to think the staff meeting for marketing went something like this:

Mike: Well, the white out seems to have been a success. People really liked it, especially since Wichita State is a big draw anyway. We need to come up with more innovative ideas like that. Whose idea way was that anyway?

Staff: I think Matty P. said it was his idea.

Mike: Well get him on the phone then, we need to pick his brain.

Mike (on phone): Hey Matt, did you really come up with the white out? I thought we just borrowed that from Penn State?

Matt: No way, man. It was my idea and Penn State stole it. That is why I stopped putting my brilliant marketing ideas on the free board. This is proprietary marketing information.

Mike: Sure Matt, do you happen to have any other ideas?

Matt: Of course I do. Loads of them. Everyone is an absolute original. You are a member of my $50 a month great ideas club, right Mike?

    Mike: Um, no.

Matt: Well I'd love to help you out and give you a free one, but I did suggest hiring McDermott, so I can't keep giving these away.

Mike: I guess we'll sign up for the plan then. These ideas better be original and worth the money.

Matt: You are gonna love this. Totally original. Wait for it. Wait for it. Blue out against SIU.

Mike: Um, Matt, I said NEW ideas. That is the same idea you already had.

Matt: No it's not. It's a completely different color. Get with the program man.

Mike: But it still is just a game where everyone is asked to wear the same color. We already do that. Don't you think fans will realize that we only have one gimmick?

Matt: Okay, Okay. I hear you. But I've got an idea that is great. Absolutely original. Nothing like everyone wearing just one color.

Mike: Great Matt, I can't wait to hear it.

    Matt: Here goes. Checkerboard game!

    Mike: Checkerboard game?

Matt: Yeah, we have some sections wear white, some wear blue. Like a checkerboard!

Mike: THAT STILL ISN'T A NEW IDEA! WHY DO WE EVEN LISTEN TO YOU? DOESN'T ANYONE ELSE HAVE AN ACTUAL ORIGINAL IDEA?

    Staff: (Silence)

Mike: Okay, white out, blue out, and checkerboard it is. I hope our fans are dumb enough to not realize we only have one idea. Matt do people still pay money for that site of yours?

    Matt: They sure do.

Mike: I think we're good then.
Funny you should mention that TMH. Here are the shirt details for Iowa Hawkeye football games this year. Matt works in Des Moines, covers the Hawkeyes. Ironic that Iowa has a Gold out, Blackout, and a Gold/Black checkerboard game. I hope Matilda is getting her royalties from her ideas.

Things Matty P are responsible for:

          - the Greg McDermott hire
          - the fan whiteout
          - the new Omaha baseball stadium
          - facebook
          - twitter
          - message boards
          - the earth rotating
          - the universe

Definitely NOT a rivalry. Especially since they are looking up at us.

Wouldn't it hilarious if Matilda was shut down with that Twitter virus the other day? Even more enjoyable if most of the RainbowCafe had problems.

              Dare to dream.

              • this definately doesn't deserve it's own thread as it doesn't directly relate to WSU basketball. Also, I'm not sure what the exact formula this guy uses is so it's hard to say if it's really useful in any way. Still, I found it kind of interesting to see who the "Top 20 most effecient players" are. You'll recognize a few names. Interesting to see who the #7 most effecient player is according to this guy.....

Uh, I didn't know Matty P had another blog.

Kenny Lawson is the second most "efficient" player in college basketball?

What happens when they face a team with D-1 talent and not just their teammates? I'm thinking there may be a bit surprised to find out that the league isn't filled with Bradley level players.

The Trees had better watch out. They just might have a fight on their hands for the championship.

Honestly, that article reads alot like MTs first full recruiting class of Burns, Sherrel, Howard, Sowers, Kampman and Miller. Plenty of talent and the potential to be VERY good, but right now they are indeed playing against some mediocre players.
