UNI fans are happy and ecstatic but this means little.

Turg got a nice extension right after the Sweet 16 year along with a bump in salary. If the right school comes along, he's gone.

I think salary is only a small part of the compensation. What about chartered flights, increase in recruiting budget, etc. We focus on the salary because it might be the one detail we can get our hands on.

Elementary HRM, compensation is so much more than salary!

So if I understand it right, Jacobsen will be up to $700,000 by the year 2020.

Damn straight Matt! Just like my wife… she married me because of my ‘total package'. ;-)

His compensation is in excess of 1M.
                Source?

You seem to have a much higher opinion of your WSU Athletic Department "connectedness", than I think most of us share. A lack of concrete evidence here would prove that only further.
                What's the deal Ricky?

I believe Dr. Wu is correct.

The actual amount was never reported, I don't believe.

And I believe it is around $1 million per annum.

There's oodles of actual, relevant search results showing talk of $750K or even $800K, not the least of which are from our own school's AD website, and an AP article on ESPN, as I linked earlier.

There's nothing out there, outside of fan-driven hearsay, that supports $1M.

Given, the reports and links supporting the smaller figures are 3 years old now, but in spite of our high opinion and outlook for HCGM, what in the world has he done in those 3 years to garner a significant pay increase?

Those numbers in the stuff you read are base salary. Once everything else is thrown in it's at least 1M

Am I the only one on this forum that actually had to write papers at my time at WSU, complete with references to back things up?

Maybe Doc is on a WSU board or committee and actually knows (but can't reference this because it was verbal information) the salary? I'm just guessing here but WSU has (I think) a SASO board, a ICAA board, Alumni Association "committees" and other bodies. Doc might know a big donor who is contributing to HCGM's salary or Marshall might have told Doc. There are lots of ways Doc might know and might wish to inform Shocker fans without revealing his source. Maybe Doc has media connections (which pay HCGM for media appearances and know his salary.) Maybe ADES mentioned the salary to Doc (unlikely) or Mrs. Marshall mentioned it.

Does HCGM's salary really matter? I do recall seeing the figure $850K in some publication (WSU news release?) but does it matter a lot if I'm wrong?
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:
Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Apparently your papers weren't covering global warming. With some topics it's perfectly acceptable to make up convenient facts. It can even win you funding and in rare cases a Nobel Prize.

I could start requiring APA rules for every post.

If people are interested in the structure of WSU coaching contracts, here is a PDF of Turgeon's contract with WSU (each contract extension is amended to the end of the original contract).
