1/16/2010 on the "Screw at the Q" HCGM... " Ive never seen a foul parade like that...If you would of let me know it was going to be a foul parade I would of brought a different team" .... "dont talk to me about fouls....Ive got to go back and look at some tape... I have some thoughts but I need to look at the tape and then I will have something very strong to say"

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

$1M was some exaggerated media rumor before the contract negotiations were finalized.

On the terms of Marshall’s contract...

Jim Schaus: We, in a short time frame like this, aren’t able to finalize an actual contract, but we have an agreement in principle for a seven-year agreement for $750,000 plus performance incentives. The details of those are being finalized.
Gregg Marshall (left) has been named the 25th head men's basketball coach at Wichita State University, WSU Director of Athletics Jim Schaus (right) announced today.

Athletic director Jim Schaus said the school had reached a tentative seven-year agreement with Marshall for $750,000 a year, plus performance incentives.
Wichita State will name Winthrop head coach Gregg Marshall to replace Mark Turgeon as its next men's basketball coach at a news conference Saturday afternoon, a source close to Marshall told ESPN.com Saturday.

Four years ago UNI bumped McDernmott's pay to $350,000 per year. 30 days after they did this McDermott signed with Iowa State for $650,000. The cancellation language seems to be the only thing to keep a coach around.

That's still on the low side even by MVC standards.

It seems that a S16 is worth around 600K at a minimum, even for coaches like Les and Lowery that aren't that well received by their fan bases.

Whoever hires Jacobsen (maybe not this year - his recruiting isn't proven yet) should easily be able to afford any buyout in a contract like that.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

If UNI gets bumped out this round, the contract might stand a decent chance of not getting bought out; at least for another year, anyways.

Like a lot of schools, Gregg's total compensation package is made up of more than his salary which has been raised at least once from the 750k it started at......and not just in performance incentives.

His compensation is in excess of 1M.

                      Source?

You seem to have a much higher opinion of your WSU Athletic Department "connectedness", than I think most of us share. A lack of concrete evidence here would prove that only further.

I think HCGM gets closer to $1M than to $750K. I seem to recall a salary of $850K plus media contracts, etc. I could be wrong.

I seem to be annoying an increasingly larger number of people on here of late. I will endeavor to correct that in the future.
