They get it handed to them by UNI and Drake on a regular basis, run off good coaches, and still think they're worthy of a great hire.

Yea...I would be defiant as well if my program was 40-45 over the past three years, with no success in sight. Hawkeyeites must be hitting each other over the head with corn stalks to the point of stupidity. Get a grip Iowa fans...another season of arss whoppin is only another eight months away. At this point Dr. Phil couldn't even salvage this sinking ship. I hope we aren't looking to them for a game next year...I'm sure we have enough Alcorn States lined up already!!!

Loosing touch with reality...
Let's all just take a step back for a minute....
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
and realize that a lot of the speculation coming out is just that....speculation. In addition, a lot of the names being floated could be wild goose chases or not what they appear. For example, Gregg Marshall declining an interview could have gone like this:
GB: Gregg, we'd like you to come down to Atlanta and interview for the head coaching position at Iowa.
GM: Can I ask who my competition is?
GB: Well Gregg, Scott Drew and Steve Forbes have agreed to sit down with us after their tournament run is over. We also just got done interviewing Jamie Dixon. So are you interested?
GM: Ummm, no thanks, I'll pass.
GB: Great talking with you, Gregg. Good luck next year!
GM to Wichita paper: I have declined an interview with Iowa. I'm happy at Wichita State.
Obviously that's a little over the top, but coaches know who is being interviewed and who isn't, so I'm not too worried about some of the "non-interest" being shown by some of these lower-tier coaches.
Also, I'm sure that some of this is being "set-up" by Barta and the search firm to make the real hire seem that much better when compared to the coaches whose names were floated early that none of the fan base cared for.
Let's just sit back and let the process play out and not get so worked up over every name that gets tweeted or blogged about.
Maybe one Hawkeye fan gets it...
You have got to be kidding me!
If someone was truly interested in the job, they wouldn't turn down an interview based on the competition. If you were asked to interview for a top-level job in your field, would you turn it down because you thought you might not get it?
Come on. He turned it down because he's TRULY not interested, doesn't think he could resurrect the program, and doesn't want to ruin his career.
There's optimistic, and then there's blowing rainbows out your *** and hopping around in Sugar Cane Magic Gumdrop Land with unicorns.

In-demand MVC Coaches stay put.
Marshall went to recruit in Huntsville, Ala., on Wednesday and was home by dinner. That's because, according to Marshall, he has $80,000 a year for flights, with each roundtrip costing $3,000 to $6,000. His assistant coaches have used small private jets to see a player. That kind of access to air travel for a program like Wichita is immeasurable.
"What people don't understand is how much this is a good job," Marshall said.
Marshall makes an estimated $925,000 at Wichita State. That's money you can't dismiss."Don't measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should accomplish with your ability."
