What I thought was truly ironic was how they was the announcers were saying stuff like "the MVC has a great basketball tradition, history, etc.". Yet they were listing a stat that clearly showed they knew nothing about the history of the MVC.

(AP) In an NCAA tournament full of upsets, Northern Iowa pulled off the biggest one: The Panthers took down mighty Kansas. UNI has become the eighth Valley team to reach the Sweet 16 since 1994. Notably, the Missouri Valley has received just 33 total bids from 1994-2010, meaning nearly one of every four Valley NCAA berths since 1994 have resulted in a Sweet 16 trip.
That is a pretty damn good record for the MVC
Actually this is a stat that should be used to argue for more At-Large bids for the Valley.
The Valley has only had 16 at large bids from 1994 to 2010 and 7 of those 16 at-large teams made it to the sweet 16 (44%).
That is a pretty good stat to throw out to show that we have proven ourselves in the dance.

I love Kevin Harlan since listening to him do the Chiefs radio broadcasts back in the day, "Ohhhh baby what a play!".Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!

Just an interesting tidbit on commentators. I happened to be in the car listening to pre-game of KU's game vs. Lehigh. Bob and Chris were courtside while UNI was beating UNLV. It became apparent quickly that neither had any insight on either team, especially UNI (or the Valley)
Chris made a comment about the fact that the Valley only had one team in the tournament this year, which normally wouldn't be the case, but then stated he didn't think the Valley had ever had more than 2 teams receive a bid. All I could think about was Bradley beating them to advance to the sweet 16. Don't they remember that? Or have the KU faithful successfully put that out of their minds.
While this display was happening, Ali was drilling a three to put UNI up for good against the rebels. Both Chris and Bob tried to pronounce his name with no luck, then just gave up.

On B&B this am someone brought up this tid bit and Bob said the fault lay with uni in that the info sheet they (uni) gave cbs contained the info as it was relayed by the announcers. Later the mistake was discovered and thats when they tried to "fix" it. Take it with a grain of salt.

I assume someone just read that wrong. Even if it was originally wrong, the two facts above that one deal with MVC sweet 16 teams in recent years, directly refuting any notion about Indiana State being the last mvc sweet 16 team. So there's really no excuse for the TV people.

Cherry-picking odd, random data to fluff up your resume at the accidental expense of your conference is unacceptable. No one, I mean no one, cares about when the last time the "MVC tournament champion" made the S16. Further, you're just asking for trouble - trouble exactly like what we have here - when you put data points like this out there, and somehow expect the statistically-overwhelmed media members covering the tourney to decipher the minute differences.
Someone needs to be beat about the head with a rubber duck.

Well, I was listening to KGSO on my way home from work and Fox Sports Radio has Myers & Hartman on. They're of course talking about the Northern Iowa win over Kansas.
One of them kept saying Iowa State for Northern Iowa and the other guy had to keep correcting him. Then, paraphrasing what he next said, "We're getting to know more about the Missouri Valley conference with Northern Iowa being the first team from the Missouri Valley to get to the sweet 16 since Indiana State in 1979."
