  • KSU does have a rich bball tradition, but so much of it really is very old.

The last conference championship was 1977.

And WSU has been to both a Sweet 16 and a Final Four more recently than KSU.

Your most recent Elite 8 trip, 1988, is more recent than ours, 1981.

There's no reason why 1100 WSU students can't be some of the best despite not being the largest.
It takes a great deal of charisma to convince the student section to coordinate a new chant.

I've tried minor things. some work. more fail. most people dont understand the reason for the chant. the humor behind it.

the cheerleaders will have to be, for lack of a better word, leaders.

if the cheerleaders direct us and coordinate actions, the student body will listen and follow.
i'd like it if we could get some coordinated fist pumping of some sort. I loved the way USU had many actions with their chants.

anyhow. i'll see if I can get some stuff started at the last home game.
      better late than never.

The older crowd at Koch means it's usually fuller when times are not as good though I have been to every WSU/KSU game there since we moved here in '85 and never had any trouble getting tickets and there was plenty of purple there.

        Flash in the pan?
        19 Conference championships
        4 Final fours
        16 Sweet Sixteens
        11 Elite Eights
Then about 15 years of wondering in the wilderness ala WSU in the 90's and early '00s.
But since then finished 4th, 3rd, 4th and likely 2nd in one of the top conferences in the country. Recruiting is continuing to be very successful. Future is very bright.

So not so much "flash in the pan".

You kinda got served by ABC.

Again, no KSU jerkin' please. Save that for your PowerCat.com jerkin' zone.

So basically, you are equating WSU with KSU. I personally don't think you've made it us yet. Please describe your years from 1996-2006. Your new found glory is a "flash of success". It has not been sustained.

Congrats on the No.6 ranking. You finally passed something WSU did 3 years ago.

Have the Kits ever been ranked No.1?
        Deuces Valley.
        ... No really, deuces.

"dont talk to me about fouls....Ive got to go back and look at some tape... I have some thoughts but I need to look at the tape and then I will have something very strong to say"

We know Marshall loves the crowds and the atmosphere at Koch. I can't understand why, when he runs into another great college atmosphere and comments on it that WSU fans suddenly feel slighted.

CKA may be loud, but it's not non-stop, it's not clever, it's pretty much just noise at crucial times in games. When "these refs suck" got blasted by a ref who objected, the replacement was - uh - silence. "Who cares" during intros, and "you suck balls" are neither clever, entertaining, or classy.

USU students take things to an entirely different level. Marshall used an expression to indicate that's what happens at USU and thin-skinned "fans" get all bent out of shape, feel wounded and injured, and start bad-mouthing our coach. Grow up and get some skin and the ability to understand what people mean instead of constantly assuming people mean to insult you.
I watched the game and had the exact same impression as Marshall and Paul. The Utah State crowd is altogether different than the WSU crowd. It doesn't take away from the WSU crowd, it is just altogether different. VERY impressive.

            • OK, so what do we do now. The way I see it is the best thing we can do is show up Saturday for Clevin's senior farewell and after giving him the acknowledgment he deserves we proceed to do our very best to blow the freakin' roof off of Koch Arena during the SIU game.

We can add the creativity next year.

              • Great! This has been a fun exercise and a lot of good ideas have been expressed for naught.

That is unless someone (hopefully one or more of you who live in Wichita) takes the bull by the horns and pushes the Athletic Department to organize the students, cheer leaders, school newspaper, etc., to come up with a program similar to the USU program, but tailored to WSU.

We were privy to seeing an engaging and creative student body really having fun and getting the whole crowd into it. There is no reason that can't happen here, despite the predictions of a few pessimists.

Are you just going to let it die right here on shockernet? Because that is precisely what will happen over the next week or so.

Are you going to let the non-creative ones with no imagination, no foresight, who are also so full of reasons why nothing will ever work at WSU, kill off a golden opportunity to at least try?

Many of you constantly ***** about the lack of student support and attendance at the games. Now is the time to put up or shut up.

Forgive me for ranting. I will never mention this subject again.
