Im going to post this here because

#1 it doesnt matter what Paul says. People are already butt hurt about it and even if they step back and think rationally about it they will still never let it go.

The inferiority complex of people of this city is VERY upsetting. Very ridiculous and also VERY amusing.

I mean just this past week we had a caller on the verge of tears beg Coach Marshall to let him know what he could do to get him to stay at the school.

    Now with that said...

I ****ing love Utah State well done.

Given the week's events, the comment could have been taken several different ways. It was not clear what the intent was of it.

It has nothing to do with an inferiority complex.

Apparently, it has been cleared up by Sully. Probably not the best analogy in the world to use at the time by the coach.

Am I the only person who read those words, interpreted them the way they were meant, understood exactly what was being communicated, and saw zero reason to be upset, and zero reason to feel inferior?

We know Marshall loves the crowds and the atmosphere at Koch. I can't understand why, when he runs into another great college atmosphere and comments on it that WSU fans suddenly feel slighted.

CKA may be loud, but it's not non-stop, it's not clever, it's pretty much just noise at crucial times in games. When "these refs suck" got blasted by a ref who objected, the replacement was - uh - silence. "Who cares" during intros, and "you suck balls" are neither clever, entertaining, or classy.

USU students take things to an entirely different level. Marshall used an expression to indicate that's what happens at USU and thin-skinned "fans" get all bent out of shape, feel wounded and injured, and start bad-mouthing our coach. Grow up and get some skin and the ability to understand what people mean instead of constantly assuming people mean to insult you.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

ASM: No inferiority complex with me. It was a silly comment for him to make. You don't need to belittle your own program in trying to give credit to another. I'm sure that's not what he meant to do, but that's how it seems IMO.
Look, some coaches, programs, and fans don't like the "mid-major" moniker, and I don't like the AAA reference. I don't live in Wichita, and I've got 3 schools I attended and root for all 3, but I bleed for the Shox, and I've always been extremely impressed by the amount of Shocker support. To paraphrase former HCMT: "WSU is a major program playing in a mid-major conference."

I'm a huge GM supporter, and will just chalk it up to an off the cuff remark that didn't mean any harm. He'll learn from it.

If Marshall hadn't have made such a big deal about the 5 people booing last week and a newspaper column about a bad loss to Evansville, then it probably would have been interpreted for apparently how it was supposed to be meant.

Why did he even have to make a comparison to WSU? Why couldn't he just say they had a great atmosphere and leave it at that?

Whether it was misinterpreted or not, the lack of understanding by some fans is a result of Marshall's bumblings of the last week. If that stuff doesn't happen, then this stuff doesn't.

I'm glad he thinks we are still AAA because after the booing stuff and years of watching pathetic fan performances whilst patting each other on the backs for being great fans, I figured we were about on the level of the Wingnuts.

I have stayed away from this board because I am pissed about the comment, the game, and the lack of respect Gregg has shown the Shocker program over the past week or so. This program is bigger than him, IMO. For him to make a comment like that, in the heat of the moment or not, is stupid and disrespectful to us as fans. Anyone who sees it anyway else has blinders on and simply doesn't get it. He defends his team to no end, why shouldn't he support and defend the fans the same way? It's disrespectful.

HCMT was better at coach speak.

"What a great college basketball environment!"

That's all that needed to be said. Bringing our school into the discussion was as unnecessary as it was foolish. Wichita State is known by most of the media to be one of the most intimidating and loud college basketball environments in the nation. There are only a handful of schools that can say that. We were intimidating schools with our sheer volume and intensity before Utah State new what basketball was.
