It has nothing to do with an inferiority complex. It has to do with being loyal to the fans who have supported this program through thick and (mostly) thin. Gregg could have complimented the USU fans and atmosphere without taking a cheap shot at the Shocker fans. He is a smart man, and I think it was a calculated statement and move on his part.

We know Marshall loves the crowds and the atmosphere at Koch. I can't understand why, when he runs into another great college atmosphere and comments on it that WSU fans suddenly feel slighted.

USU students take things to an entirely different level. Marshall used an expression to indicate that's what happens at USU and thin-skinned "fans" get all bent out of shape, feel wounded and injured, and start bad-mouthing our coach. Grow up and get some skin and the ability to understand what people mean instead of constantly assuming people mean to insult you.
CKA may be loud, but it's not non-stop, it's not clever, it's pretty much just noise at crucial times in games. When "these refs suck" got blasted by a ref who objected, the replacement was - uh - silence. "Who cares" during intros, and "you suck balls" are neither clever, entertaining, or classy. :good:

And he doesn't owe the fans squat. Right now he has to worry about what is going on with his team. He doesn't have to explain anything. Maybe the fans should start showing up and actually doing what they claim to be capable of, not just at certain times.
When's the last time we had a home game on ESPN2? Our at-large possibilities were shattered after the EU game. The fans still showed up for a sellout with MSU (which I was frankly surprised at) and 10,400+ for the return game with Evansville. The support is there, but it's hard to get "into it" when you have a team that has shown little care, little effort, and needed a miracle to come back and beat Evansville at home.

Maybe this team is a bit too dependent on the fans. The coach's job is to make the team prepared for every game, no matte
r what the circumstances. That's not happening.
THIS IS WHERE YOU ARE WRONG!!!!
Our kids give it their all 110% of the time, there hasn't been a time where heart or effort is at question. Maybe the shots dont fall or they dont execute the best at times, but effort is certainly not the issue.

Why are all the blinded people crying for "inferiority complex"? That makes zero sense.

If you don't like the threads, don't contribute to them. All of these questions are perfectly valid.

People are telling us to get over it? Why don't you tell coach to get over it and doing what his job description entitles and play some meaningful basketball?

Yeah, people think Marshall is taking cheap shots and yet they take them at the players. I mean I guess you can say those kind of things if you KNOW these kids and what they are or aren't doing in practices and games. But I don't think ANYONE on this site is qualified to question their effort or heart. Never stops people though.

It's interesting to read all this talk about coach "supposedly" taking a cheapshot towards the fans. What the heck??? Coach was complimenting a great college basketball program who plays in front of a great college atmosphere. What is sooooooo wrong with that???

Had no problem with the Lutz article. Had no probelm with the boos. Had no problem with Coach Marshall's comments. Anybody who saw that game last night and wasn't blown away by their atmosphere is in denial. The only beef I've had with Coach is his whining about Lutz and the boos and the crappy performances we've strung together. He's still my man, but he's got a learning curve.

The atmosphere was great. No one is arguing that. Why couldn't Marshall just leave it at that?

Exactly! The contention isn't that they have an amazing atmosphere or even one better than ours, which very well may be true. The issue is that OUR coach didn't need to throw Shocker fans under the bus to pay them a compliment.
