  • Bears game

After the game last night, GM mentioned in his post game comments on the MK radio show that he asked the team at half-time if the Bears had a shot blocker. He said he didn't see one and wondered why WSU kept missing all the bunnies. At least WSU did better at scoring bunnies in the 2nd half!

    • 1. Blair's steal was the play of the game.

      2. TM is having problems with his handles. (really?)

      3. These refs suck.

      4. That game was to basketball as UFC is to boxing.

      5. Note to self: try those "Memphis Nachos".

      6. All of the negative talk has turned 0 from an average shooter to a bad shooter. Remember when he scored ...what was it...24?

      7. "Meat" Williams will be just fine, thank you.

      8. Mo St girls like the shocker.

      9. Shox passes were much crisper, as were their cuts. THAT PART was great basketball to watch.

      10. I will never understand why big time officials, as they were described, think it is better to impact the outcome of the game by chosing to not call fouls, than it is to blow the whistles and keep the game civilized.

I thot Blair's score in the final minute or so on a back cut and terrific pass from Hannah which resulted in a 3-pt score was the play of the game. It gave the Shocks a 4-pt lead. All the Bears cud do after that was foul and attempt 3 pt shots. Besides that pass interception Blair made, he also made a terrific block at some point and then caught the ball before it went out of bounds.

        • Some nights the lid is just on the basket, and the only thing you can do is lock down on defense and find your best shot. We found a lot of really, REALLY good shots last night. We blew a lot of bunnies, but they weren't settling for 18-footers with a hand in their face.

The free throw disparancy looks bad if you didn't see the game - those that did know that we were getting blocked and grabbed every time down the court. When Graham got THROWN out of bounds and I saw three Shockers heading that way I thought, "Holy **** they're going to kill him!" Fortunately they were going over to help Graham up. Even ShockBand said, "There are going to be punches thrown before this game is over." That there weren't is a testament to the team's poise.

It looked to me and SB last night that Demetric has finally got it into his head that he wants to be the starting PG next year, and he looked very much in control last night. He has grown up a lot this year. If you remember, our first glimpse of Clevin involved him throwing a basketball into the upper seats at Hutch Sports Arena right after Chipola lost to Seward County. He grew up a lot last year, and Demetric has done much the same this year.

They played with intensity from start to finish last night, and because of that they were able to survive a horrible shooting night. Also, I wondered aloud if there was Vaseline on the ball because it seemed like neither team could keep a hold of the thing.
