Actually, according to RPIratings, our SOS is ranked at 122.
(Compare to No. Iowa at 103, Siena at 138, Utah State at 104)
I would consider beating Texas Tech (rpi 32) and N. Iowa (rpi 13) as pretty darn good wins.
13 No. Iowa 21-2
34 Siena 20-4
37 Wichita State 19-5
51 Utah State 17-6
By Feb 17, our SOS will definitely drop to 150 (or lower) because we play Evansville (RPI 292) twice in the next 9 days. Siena plays at Butler (15) for the Bracketbusters so their SOS will go up tremendously. We need to beat Utah State and hope Butler dominates Siena. If it's a close game, or they win, the committee will choose SU for sure.
Snap, the rank of 330th refers to WSU's non-conference schedule strength, which is destroyed by this year's exceptionally long and bad parade of cupcakes.

Why does non-con SOS matter? It's a serious question, not trying stir it up.
Does the committee even care, and if so, why? Shouldn't the whole season be dealt with as the "complete body of work"? If our in-conference schedule can raise our overall SOS to a respectable level, then what does it matter who we play OOC?
This seems like a poor excuse for the committee to prop up BCS schools, because you never hear about OOC SOS when measuring their "body of work". It's an easy double standard for them to point to when doling out the bids.
