I hope we do see him do that if the opportunity every presents itself, but for now I'm just glad GS took care of business last night. He was really impressive.

    • What does everybody think? Confidence? What was it?

      • It was definitly confidence...you could just see it in his eyes. He wanted the ball and he called for it in the post and went for it on the boards. I hope we get more of this from GS.

        • Maybe it's just me, but I swear there was one time he was posting up Booker and had position and Toure' wanted him to come set a screen and I swear Garrett said something which I imagine was along the lines of "give me the damn ball!" Toure' made the pass and Booker fouled Garrett.

That would be a step forward indeed.

Maybe more like "give me the darn ball" :)

              • I wasn't able to catch the second half of the game last night so I left the television thinking "another Stutz no-show". I'm glad to hear he was able to muster some solid play in the second half against a cellar dweller. I'm thinking the coach must have 'whispered' a few instructions to the big fella during the break. :)

On another note: Our new website really frustrates me. And what does a guy need to do to get a box score - Goshockers.com -no, Kansas.com -no, Mvc.org -no, ESPN.com -yes..... :(

About what? A good second half against a cellar dweller amongst dozens of bad ones in MVC play? I will reserve the excitement I showed early in the year when GS was doing well against lesser competition, until he strings together a few solid performances.

Considering I started this thread right before this game and mentioned that it would be good locker room material for the big fella, do I get any credit for his strong performance in the second half last night? :) :) :)

His MVC ppg is now 4.27 from 3.5! Keep on trucking Garrett! :)

You will have to forgive me when I don't show up around here for days or weeks at a time. I don't live on message boards and it is difficult even now for me to respond to some of the posts on here directed toward me. I appreciate all the personal interaction (even the negative stuff), but I simply cannot be expected to respond to everybody.

When we win and I don't make a comment, just think of me as happy and content having little to say.

When we lose and I do make a comment, understand that I am frustrated and am using this forum to vent, saying things I wish I could say to the player himself.

You must not be very fond of your nose - or your grapes for that matter. Saying the stuff you say to the players, instead of out here in "anonymous world", could be very painful.

SIU might be a cellar dweller, but Teague looked like he had Durley absolutely intimidated. Durley was just hemorrhagin points. Out of 4 inside players for WSU, Stutz was the only one who wanted anything to do with going to the basket with the ball.

If Stutz doesn't get any credit for his play because SIU is a "cellar-dweller", then what does the rest of the front court get for their uninspired, unmotivated, intimidated, and lackluster play against a cellar-dweller?

Admit it. Stutz saved WSU's hide in Carbondale.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Confidence cannot be conjured up over night. Somebody must have got him pissed. If this was the case, it speaks more to Mr. Stutz's attitude than to his ability. Attitude can be manipulated through proper management. He certainly doesn't pass the 'eye test' yet, but effort can overcome many deficiencies. Just look at K-State.

                            0/1 * 100 = 0% I'm getting better no? :)

                            • Without going back and watching the game again, I don't recall GS having any lapses in the first half or early in the 2nd, like he is prone to do when first entering the game. I suspect that allowed him to feel more comfortable and confident.

Sometimes all it takes is to make that first shot or get a defensive stop to settle you down and feel like you belong out there.

                              • Remember, that one game does not make a season. GS will pull in more followers when he grows out of those senseless fouls. I don't think he was in the game 10 seconds before collecting the first foul. Three of his four fouls were freshman fouls. He is late in his sophomore year, so those fouls should not be present in such numbers.

I like the fact that he posted up stronger in this game and hope he can do the same in the next game.
