I suspect that these two will act like team mates, work together in practice to make each other better and win a lot of games together. So the topic is pretty mich irrelevant. The real purpose of this thread was to stir the pot. Its stirred up 4 pages.
MTXE "wins" again. Way to go guys.
:ohno:
It is a internet message board. There is no winning or losing. You can only lose if you take it seriously enough for it to upset you. And if making people angry on a message board is winning, then you have already lost at life.
You're absolutely right TMH. That's why I put the "" around win.
"You can only lose if you take it seriously enough for it to upset you."
And that's what I was attempting to get across to those who continue to feed the troll.
OK ... I rarely post, always try to post rational thoughts and never use colorful language but ..... Holy S... .... EO hasn't even stepped onto the court for WSU yet. We know nothing about him except he's tall, can run and by all reports is having a mediocre year at a community college. Please ... let's give this ridiculous comparison a rest. It's complete speculation and unfair to both players. NEXT TOPIC PLEASE!!

You are well within your rights to start your own thread discussing your own 'rational thoughts'. This thread is mine and I believe its creation serves many purposes.
First, it affords the opportunity to revisit a fairly rare problem for teams such as ours; what to do with two seven-foot centers. Second, it highlights Garrett Stutz's recent struggles allowing those concerned to voice their thoughts. And finally, message boards are for posting messages right?
This thread could make great locker room material if GS ever got a hold of it. I for one would like to see the young man wake up. If he doesn't wake up before the year is over, I can only hope that EO has the mettle to wake him up.
Don't give up on sophomore center Nick Evans. Yes, he's in a bad slump right now, and a big part of it is mental. He was ejected from a game and lost his starting job. Since the start of the New Year, he has scored only 13 points.
Just remember how well Evans played early in the season. He scored double figures in six of his first 10 games and was shooting about 65 percent from the field. The talent is there. It takes longer for big men to develop, so just be patient with the big fella.
In a league that is woefully short on true big men, I guarantee you that any team in this conference would be thrilled to have the 6-foot-11 redhead on their squad.
I don't think anyone is being honest with themselves in saying they're not disappointed in Stutz's progress. If EO is better than Stutz next year that's going to say a lot more about Stutz than EO.
It's unfortunate, because I'd love to see Durley at the "4," but you can't play Stutz any significant minutes.
I think Durley mostly plays the '4' doesn't he?
Power Forward
Power forwards play a role similar to that of center, playing with their back to the basket on offense and positioned either on the low blocks or against the opposing power forward on defense. However, in most instances, the power forward is asked to shoulder more of a scoring role and somewhat less of a defensive role than a center.
Center
The center is one of the standard positions in a regulation basketball game. The center is normally the tallest player on the team, and they are generally preferred to have a great deal of muscle and body mass as well. A typical NBA center is 6'10" (2.08 m) or taller.
In many cases, the center's primarily role is simply to be very large, and to use his size to score and defend from a position close to the basket. A center who possesses size along with athleticism and skill constitutes an unparalleled asset for a team.
It seems to me like our first string has two 4's and our second string has a 4 and a 5. Perhaps it's all semantics.
What games have you been watching? Durley is clearly our starting center.
Actually when they show the lineups on TV, they have Hannah, Murry, and Hatch as guards and Ellis and Durley as forwards.

Yes, but Durley plays the 5 as does Stutz and Marshall has talked about that MANY times. Durley would be best suited as a 4 but we don't have that luxury. But he is the starting center and plays most of the game as such unless he's in with Garrett.
I've also seen where Hatch is labeled as a forward. Does that mean some weeks he's a guard and others he's a forward?
Durley doesn't play much 4 because of more than we don't have the luxury. Marshall has also said that one reason that Durley doesn't play more at the 4 is because he is not as good at perimeter defense thus the matchup needs to be a good one for him to play the 4.
EO isn't gong to start next year and may not see that much playing time. He will have to earn those minutes against Durley, Stutz, Blair, Ellis, and Hamilton. He hasn't exactly lit people up at the level he's at so I doubt he's an instant Saviour in a box for WSU. Hopefully he and Stutz will give us a large post presance for the next couple of years, until Marshall reloads.
