I had this game as a loss when the season started and I just can't talk myself into picking WSU to win in carbondale. It doesnt mean we aren't the better team, it's just hard to break old habits. But WSU will win at UNI this year...

My record for picking WSU valley games has a blemish after the DU fiasco. I sure hope I have two after this weekend.

    WSU 59
    SIU 68
Marge: The plant called and said that if you don't come in tomorrow, don't bother coming in Monday.
    Homer: WOOHOO! Four day weekend.

The great win at MSU seems like such a long time ago - especially when you compare it to the two most recent road losses at CU and DU. We all are hoping for a Shocker victory but my "head" says the more recent road woes continue.

      SIU 64
      WSU 61

Sure hope I am wrong !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Randy Smithson's team beat SIU in Carbondale Feb 24, 1998 by a score of 70 - 66. I'm going to predict the same outcome Sunday.

If the Shox can win at Carbondale I think they WILL win at Cedar Falls. Confidence is such an important ingredient in winning.

I remember that year like a death in the family. Specifically at this exact point in the season, no less. A friend and I were discussing the Shockers chances of going to the tournament; I claimed there was no way they couldn't make it, while he told me to slow down. Now I approach each season with a little more realistic perspective.

That said...lets win out and get it. :goshocks:

Starting in 2001 SIU became virtually unbeatable at home, until last season. However, we were the unfortunate team that got to play them on their senior night. And we only lost by four.

I'm not quite ready to predict a win, but I'm hopeful. I still would have rather played them after a win in Terre Haute. Hopefully we won't be their Illinois St.

I hope opposing teams say that about us! Streak started in 2008

To finish out the 2004-05 season, the Shocks were 18-3 and finished:

                      L @ Bradley
                      L Creighton
                      L @ Miami (OH)
                      W Missouri St.
                      L @ Southern Illinois
                      L Northern Iowa
                      Valley Tourny
                      W Drake
                      L Creighton

                      Lost 6 of 8.

The good news is that this year's last 6 prior to the Valley Tourney include 2 vs. Evansville, and MSU and SIU at home (plus BB and @ Bradley).

                        SIU

that 04/05 meltdown was absolutely brutal to watch. wasnt it fitting to get beat at Vandy with .7 seconds left!

I don't know how to break the road jinx when we are at Creighton, SIU or NI. Seems like weird stuff happens. We've had leads late in the game there then the wheels come off..

We need to stay out of foul trouble, not let SIU gain early momentum and hope that we catch a break or two at the end.

I was scared of this game at the start of the season. I had it as a loss when i first thought about it, but then SIU was not as good of a team as i thought they were going to be. WSU needs to jump out on them early. I hope they do or it could be ugly.
