The school colors are black and yellow. There can be no debate about this. It is a fact beyond dispute. At one point in time, I knew the number of the precise shade of yellow the University deems official. Brian, or Shannon in marketing, or Larry Rankin could probably provide us this information if someone really wanted it.

Right on, talking about WSU spot colors! It is 'Pantone 116' on Wu. That's burned into my brain from too many long nights designing art @ the student center as an undergrad...

Funny. I'd call Pantone 116 more gold than yellow. Proof that this is just a debate of terminology more than any real visible merit.

(For those without the means, pantone 116 is pretty close to the color of the "marshall plan" logo in the top right of shockernet. Your view may vary if you're not on a color calibrated monitor. )
